I wonder whether there will be an investigation by Senator Specter into Donaghy's accusations against other refs supposedly gambling on games. If this isn't an isolated incident as David Stern repeatedly stated, and the NBA took measures to squash an investigation, then this is the actual scandal that the media have been waiting for. Is Donaghy less credible than Matt Walsh? Why isn't Specter on his soapbox about this?

For all the jealous morons saying absurd things about Belichick being suspended and Cameragate being "the worst sports scandal since the Black Sox" how does the NBA's alleged attempts to cover up hundreds of fixed games, some of them possibly crucial? I would really love to see some accountability from the sports media on this, the implications are astronomically worse than anything to do with Cameragate.

Also in case anyone didn't realize there is one reason and one reason only the media is getting back on this and that is because the Celtics are doing to good and people are tired of Boston winning and they are just preparing to knock down the Celtics by saying the refs were fixing the games in Boston's favor. I know this runs counter to the way people feel the games were refed in the past serious but wait just wait the media will jump on this because they have been having so much fun bashing and annoying boston fans.

The only way you will see that is if the following happens...

    1. Both conference championship series go deep (6 or 7 games).

    2. Both the Celtics and Lakers end up in the Finals.

    3. Both the Celtics and Lakers benefit from close calls in tight, end of game situations in the conference finals.

Make no mistake, the NBA wants the C's and Lakers in the finals, but they will settle for one or the other. They do NOT want Detroit-San Antonio.

It is plain to anyone that the money-maker this June, though, will be Boston-LA. They will trot out the old-timers, you'll see footage of Nelson's shot in 68 (or was it 69?), Magic's hook shot, Henderson's steal, etc. There will be build up line none-other in NBA finals history. The ratings would be through the roof as they bring back the casual fan and the fan who hasn't watched since the early 1990's. Not to mention, two top 10 media markets.

The NBA has a history of "making things happen." See the lottery with Ewing on the line. Random rule changes and points of emphasis to cater to stars. Then you have just questionable officiating at important times, even if you leave gambling out of it! The perfect storm is brewing in the NBA for conspiracy theorists, but you will only hear of it if the storm blows in the correct direction.
