Still like to see him back, probably a pipe dream ,,,,,on a slightly different note,I see the Eagles paid Westbrook his 3 million $ signing bonus twice in error, and Westbrook has so far declined to cough up the surplus 3 mill.

Apparently Westbrook has paid taxes on the extra money already, so it's complicated.

I'd love to see it too - even though as discussed his style requires a different blocking scheme than Maroney, and its time to gear the O-Line primarilly to Maroney, as a goaline plow through the line specialist, he'd still be an asset.

But I think more so than pride, he's waiting for the highest payday - and that requires keeping his price high now, accepting that for now he won't be signed, and waiting out the pre-season, knowing that one or more teams will suffer an injury at RB, or will find they need added production, and will be willing to pay more for Dillon.

So for Dillon, waiting is a good strategy.

once bb issues a statement thanking a player for his accomplishments, thats it, he doest then resign him especially a aging slowing running back in their 30's

Exactly how I feel. It is a shame to, because he was a really good back for us.

Dillon most likely will not be back.

I know you termed this as 'still no takers for Dillon' but I think it could be just as easily be phrased as 'Dillon still has not narrowed down his possible suitors'.

At Dillon's age, I think he is more likely to sign on with a team late after a teams' running back gets injured or something like that because.....

a.)he would be going to a situation where he is needed (ie more carries)
b.)he could miss part of training camp (which I'm sure would be a bonus for him at this stage of his career)

That makes most sense, there are always some injuries in TC for all teams, and at that point might be offered a contract... do not think he will be going into a situation where he will the featured back or will get a lot of carries he is looking for.

Does Westbrook's extra $3 million affect Philadelphia's cap?

Hey, I loved Bledsoe --> Coates too, and have very fond memories of some of those moments, but hey.......... that's what they are now.

..... and so is Dillon. I'll always appreciate what he gave us and my feelings for him will never change. But, like hundreds of others, those are days gone by. Might as well look to the next memories.

NO WAY he comes back {unless we are in the most desperate of injury situations.......... which would be monumentaly BAD}.

Depending upon his exact situation, it'll either be the 1040X mentioned above OR it'll be $3M off of his adjusted wages in 2006 (when/if he pays the money back)... I'd think it would be the second piece. Regardless... I'm sure that his accountant has already told him what needs to happen.

Wouldn't it be nice to be rich enough to NOT NOTICE an extra $3M being received or sent for a few months???

Uhh, whatever. Apparently nobody shares my opinion, but I think the Dillon is out there testing the waters with BB's full blessing. If he finds something (and by this I mean featured back something), everyone wins, no hard feelings on the Pats side and Dillon gets his starting slot. I don't think Dillon has any interest in being a backup on a second rate team. If he's going to be sharing carries, it will be with the Pats. So when Dillon doesn't find a team where he can be the true #1 back, he'll circle back to the Pats.

There has been a lot of talk about RBs over the last couple of weeks and I'm wondering if the Pats even have room for another RB. Right now we have Moroney, Morris, Faulk, Evans, & Mills at the RB and FB positions. That's five guys. Maybe, just maybe we draft a RB some time in the second day. That would mean we could have 6 RBs. I DO NOT believer the Pats will go into the season with 6 RBs.

So if the Pats are going to add RBs then some of the 5 incumbents have to go. Based on recent signings, they aren't going to let got Evans and Morris. Moroney and Faulk are givens, so only Mills seems to be fighting for a job (and no I don't think of Mills as a TE, because we already have 3 of those. Mills is a FB/HB or nothing IMO)

BOTTOM LINE - I think all this talk about RB's is kind of moot because of the current roster situation.

Whatever, what do you mean, whatever?? I am the only one who is NOT surprised Dillon hasn't found a home?? Believe me, I hope he DOES come back. As for Samuel, he had a career year. I doubt he repeats it. HOWEVER, I would HATE it if you guys picked up a couple high draft choices for him. So, yeah, whatever. My statement rings true.
