That's a lot of hoping.

We're "hoping" that Butler isn't the second coming of Sterling Moore, and "hoping" that a draft pick works out.
Sterling Moore had one good play. Butler had a fair streak of pretty darn good play, including a lot of the SB.

Why would Browner be coming back if we cut him at a great price?

Was not law was drafted under parcell's watch.

I think bb is shouting at us about what he plans to do early in this draft. - cornerback.

I like the tape on peters and the kid from wake forest. Both should be available at 32. The only question is does peters bagage turn off bb?

Law was a Parcells guy, but you have go back that far I believe to find a corner the Pats have taken in the 1st (if you discount McCourty becuase he converted to safety). I agree a high draftee is likely. I don't believe they will go into the season with Dennard/Ryan/Butler vying for the outside corner spots.

I can't imagine he would be. There is no chance in hell we will get him cheaper than we already had him.

If Trae Waynes lasts until pick 15-20 I hope they trade up for him

If you think that Moore had "one good play," I think you are rather forgetful.

Both are very comparable in their rookie years that included 3 postseason games played and a SB appearance. Both made game saving breakups to either win the conference title or SB as well.

MOORE (2011)---2 INTs/1 TD/8 passes defended (4 in postseason)

BUTLER(2014)---0 INTs/0 TD/10 passes defended (3 in postseason)

Drafting a guy won't help why won't you people understand this. Unless the guy is literally a once in a generation prodigy it will take him 2-3 seasons to get consistently good. And that's assuming the draft pick sticks at all! 2-3 is what we have left with Brady and I for one would like to take advantage of it.

Did not mccourty make the pro bowl as a rookie corner for us?

I think the ability of a player is huge, but so is his ability to fit in our scheme. In this case, I think we can come out of this draft with a day one starter at cb.

I do agree with you that Butler certainly seems to be better, @rochrist .

I'm just pointing out that we'll go back to hoping, just the same way we did a few years ago after Moore had a relatively strong rookie showing in a comparable campaign.

Yeah, I get it. I do think, at least by the old Mark I Eyeball test, that Butler is better, he seemed to be in position for pretty much every pass. I guess we're likely to find out this year though! :)

I didn't think the depth at CB was too bad the other day when we were discussing it on the forum here. Of course, that was prior to finding out that Browner would likely be gone too. Now it's a bit of a different situation, I think.

Instead of Browner, Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Butler, draft pick____X (in no order)

we're looking at:

Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Butler, draft pick_____X

BARELY

The only reason the secondary we had last year "closed it out" was because pete carroll made one of the WORST PLAYCALLS in history. If the seahawks run it, they win the game.

You must have missed the part where this secondary let the seahawks go the entire length of the field in like 20 seconds.
You chicken littles seem to forget the law of averages. Kearse made a once in a lifetime catch to get them that close. The fact this escapes so manys minds is hilarious. And Revis wasn't exactly shutdown. Yea a red got in the way on his last td, but he gave up 14 points out of the 62 points this post season.

Last season yall were bawlin and we won the sb. Bb knows what's best, no one here does or even has a remote clue to run a team, and it's hilarious to see some think they even have a clue

But what if Belichick didn't want to pass up Revis? What if he was simply wrong about the deal and Revis took the Jets offer before Bill could respond? What if this isn't a plan and he messed up?

15 years, 13 with double digit wins, 6 sb appearances, 4x champs. RELAX

I'd hardly call myself a chicken little, If anything I'm shout about the silver linings here.

This team is still a superbowl caliber team, and we still have what 13 million dollars we need to spend?

Revis is gone, but the patriots will still go deep into the playoffs!

If we sign Harvin, Spiller, Murray or the Kracken

I'm hoping we don't open against Pittsburgh now. I'd hate to see those receivers against a secondary that will take some time to gell.

Did the off season end already cause I'm sure we have cap room

They better be all over Keenan Lewis.
