I love how King adds in his own "I got a strong feeling Payton would punt." douchebag.

Say what you want about Gruden, but I admire his passion for football and he gets excited but he does stay fair, unlike other people.

Unreal that King comes to that conclusion from what Payton says. It angers me to no end that people as plain stupid as Peter King become considered an authority on anything.

Gruden was even more forceful in having BB's back on MNF. Said he punted twice in that 2003 game and paid the ultimate price.

As for Payton I think King misinterpreted his comments to suit his own view because most of what he's hearing from the real pros is contrary to the kneejerk hatchet job he mailed in on Monday. What Payton lacks that BB has over most of his peers is the cache and security and stones (not to mention QB) to make the decision they really want to strategically in that identical situation.

That he and his ilk are what votes for the Pro Football HOF is nauseating.

Payton is dead on in his observation. He may have wanted to punt it if he had a stable of healthy d linemen who weren't gassed at the end of the game. But my $$ is on him going for it given that he has similar offensive weapons as the Pats do and confidence that they can get 2 yards against a weak secondary.

i think this point about colts having 4 downs to move has not been emphasised enough by anyone in the media

"if you give Peyton Manning the ball and let him play with four downs, that's a big difference from giving him three downs. [Meaning because the Colts wouldn't punt, Manning would always have four downs to keep the chains moving.]"

Thats bs, sean Payton would have made the same decision, he did 5 4th downs vs the jets

only payton would have done a fake punt in wildcat formation with a triple reverse, then passed to shockey who would lateral back to bush , who would leap for the 2 yards, after his 2nd consecutive time out

    ROFL....:D

Wasn't this guy considered coach on hot seat just last year? And now all of a sudden he is allowed to second guess BB?

He didn't second guess BB. He gave a political answer and King added his own translation of what he thought Payton was saying.
