Now that the season is officially over, I figured the only thing that can cheer me up is to think of some of the good times we have had over the past six years. Then I started to think specifically about the "strange" plays the Pats have had go in their favor of that time span. Here are the ones I came up with in no particular order....................

2001 - at Atlanta, Brady throws the ball into double coverage to David Patten. The ball actually hits the knee of a defensive player, and flies ten yards backwards into the awaiting hands of Troy Brown, who proceeded to take the ball into the end zone for the score.

2004 - at Cleveland, Willie McGinest tugging on Randall Gay as Gay tried to score on a fumble recovery. Gay did score.

2001 - vs. Oakland, tuck rule, nuff said

2002 - at Chicago, after throwing the 'game ending' pick against the Bears, Brady is aware enough to knock the ball out of the D-Lineman's hands. The pass would actually be challenged and ruled incomplete. Pats continue drive for winning TD.

2001 - at IND, Brady throws lateral to David Patten, who then threw a TD bomb to Troy Brown

2001 - at BUF, in a tight game in OT, David Patten catches the ball, gets knocked unconscious, and fumbles. Pats maintain possession because Patten's head was out of bounds while his leg was touching the football in bounds, thus making the play dead. Pats keep ball and score winning FG.

2005 - at JAX, Ben Watson breaks three tackles and outraces the Jax defenders en route to a 60+ yard touchdown on third down

2003 - vs. TEN, on a third and 12, Brady dumps the ball off very short to Bethel Johnson. Amazingly enough, Johnson was able to switch fields and outrun defenders for a key first down. Brady threw a key block in the sequence. Pats score TD on the drive.

2006 - at SD, Brady throws what should be a game killing pick on fourth down, but Troy Brown forces a fumble that allows Pats to drive to tying TD.

2005 - vs. TB, Tom Brady throws a TD pass to offensive lineman Tom Ashworth (who was eligible and playing fullback on the play)

2006- at IND, fumbled handoff near the goalline leads to Logan Mankins fumble recovery for a TD

2001 - at PIT, FG block is picked up by Troy Brown who then lateralled to Antwain Harris for a crucial TD in the AFC Championship Game

2004- at STL, Adam Vinatieri throws a TD pass to Troy Brown on a fake FG attempt

2003 - at DEN, key intentional safety that helps Pats get off goalline and win the game

2004 - vs IND, in the playoffs, Tedy Bruschi literally takes the ball away from D. Rhodes on a screen pass

2002 - at OAK, Rich Gannon seems to be throwing the ball away into the ground. The problem, however, was that the ball hit Lawyer Milloy's foot, bounced straight up in the air, Bruschi caught it and ran forty yards for the score.

feel free to add some more..........

2006 - few games ago, double reverse, where the initial handoff was fine and then the Pats handed off again and ran right into the waiting defense.

That was certainly the stupidest play of the season.

How about letting a 18 point lead and having the ball with 3 min to go and the lead and not being able to do anything about it... Never mind not one of my fav plays..

Or having 12 men in the huddle costing what proved to be crucial 5 yards..

There was a play in the Snow Bowl where Brady threw a pass towards the sidelines, and it bounced off one player and went right into Jermaine Wiggins' hands right as he was going out of bounds.

2006- at IND, fumbled handoff near the goalline leads to Logan Mankins fumble recovery for a TD

I noticed in this play, that as 2 or 3 colts players jumped on the ball, a patriots player (Thomas?) put his arm under the Colts players and pushed the ball outside, where it was recovered by mankins. Shows quick thinking and never-say-die attitude. Can anybody confirm this?
Go Pats:rocker:

how about that 2001 title game where the steelers punted but there was a holding call and on the rekick Brown took it for a TD
