In the beginning of the year, a major concern was red zone defense, especially when opposing teams were 13/16 in opportunities. Well, in the last two weeks, the steelers and Jets had a combined 7 opportunities and scored TDs zero times. Steelers were 0/3 and Jets were 0/4.
Using Mike Reiss' stats
Red-zone defense
This week: 31st (31 possessions, 20 TDs, 64.5 percent)
Last week: 32nd (28 possessions, 20 TDs, 71.4 percent)
[FONT="]After holding the Jets 0/4, it’s 35 possessions and 20 scores 57.1%.With only 8 successes in the last 19 opportunities (42%) the defense has found the right time to regain that bend but don't break mentality.
game opposing red zone success/chances
nyj 2/2
SD 2/2
buf 1/1
Cinn 2/2
Clev 1/3
Dallas 2/2
Miami 3/4
WASH 1/2
Indy 1/3
bye
Buf 0/0
Phl 3/3
Balt 3/4
Pit 0/3
NYJ 0/4

* There is a discrepancy as to whether the opposition has had 20 or 21 successes in the red zone.......
