Just when you think Goodell & Co couldn't have bungled this any more:

A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago

You had to know this would be coming, if the NFL was indeed sent the video. Someone always talks.

I love this part:

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

Ouch.

It's all over for Goodell. Slightly worrying for high profile owners like Kraft and Mara, too. You just know people (read: angry fans of rival teams) are going to be claiming they were involved.

EDIT: Forgot to finish my thought. I think some people might connect Kraft and Mara to the cover-up because of the way they stepped forward and defended Goodell recently.

Well wont change much in nfl operations . But he became a self appointed idealist in terms about being accountable and punishments and image of league . dont know how much the owners pressed him on this. So he must be held accountable for this too.

Part of me agrees with your point here....and if it happens, and we continue to support this league (through ticket sales, merchandise sales, consessions, tax payer funded stadiums etc etc etc) then we are the suckers...

US Senator Dean Heller, a Nevada Republican on a Senate Commerce subcommittee with jurisdiction over the NFL, was critical of Goodell in an open letter.

Heller asked Goodell for details about his actions in deciding punishments for Rice, NFL personnel knowledge about the elevator video and what plans Goodell has to "address the harm your league has inflicted on survivors of domestic violence going forward".

"Commissioner Goodell must understand the scope and severity of domestic abuse acts," Heller wrote. "Judging from his actions, it's time for the NFL to step its game up on this important matter."

"I fear the failure of the NFL to understand the scope and severity of this act of domestic violence has already led to significant damage for vulnerable members of society."
