Actually 138.6-141.8M projected. Rumors have been in the 140-144M range, so not far off. Miguel has been splitting the difference and using $142M as a basis for his calculations.

I agree that the numbers given to the owners are usually low. Last year I believe the number was $126.3M, and it jumped to $133M. I'm guessing $141M is probably the floor, not the ceiling.

Every team in the NFL is going through the same exercise right now:

The Pats don't have a ton of wiggle room. Most of their current excess cap space will be taken up by incentives. They have ERFAs to re-sign, a rookie pool, UFAs, and a contingency fund. They currently have only around $4-8M in available space under the league-cap based on those estimates. I think it will be manageable, but it will be tight, and tighter than for a lot of other teams.

I think this off-season, most of the cap will be to extend McCourty, Revis, Vereen, Ayers. Sign our own first. Im not expecting any big FA acquisitions this off-season. Im looking forward to the Draft as well!

I don't really understand the contracts /cap stuff, even when reading some of the very articulate posts on the matter. But I guess Suh ain't happening?
