A CBA agreement would be bad news for the Pats, without a CBA Mankins, Ghost are RFAs which would mean the Patriots could franchise Wilfork and have control over Mankins / Ghost. With a CBA they can franchise one of them and would risk losing the other two.

At this point franchising a player is as good as guaranteeing they'll get pissed off and leave so I really don't see the issue for the Pats. They've got some tough choices ahead with or without a CBA in place.

I think a CBA , is great for the game, maybee not good for the Pats, but it needs to be resolved sooner than later...

I read somewhere yesterday that the union may be willing to concede in transition that the 2010 FA requirements (6) remain for 2010 as part of their concessions to ownership in getting a new deal. The rationale being teams had to plan for it. A new CBA AND 6 year RFA's for 2010 only would be an ideal outcome for the NEP...

I agree that Mankins and Gost would be RFA's under the concessions from the NFLPA. If it works out that way, you have to tip your hat to BB and Kraft. Going into the season, it looked like the Pats would lose either Seymour, Mankins or Vince without fair compensation. Instead we already have compensation for Seymour and Vince and Mankins will likely not leave without compensation.

That was the gamble they took.. We have to be happy we have people in the FO who are so competent, and good at what they do.

We take this for granted sometimes IMO.
