Patriots Sign Two D Linemen
Also released LS Tony Case
Re: Patriots sign NTs Rashad Moore and Kenny Smith, cut LS Case
In case any one was keeping score, Smith also has dreads.
Pats roster as of 6/8/07:
-9 (unsigned draft picks)
The Pats are still 5 players under the offseason limit of 80.
moore could back up wilfork ,smith replaces hill for training camp rotational d ends
I'd rather have Sam Adams at NT, but I've been saying that for at least 5 years.
However, Moore has been an occasionally productive starter and certainly has the size, if not the stamina. The hope, of course, is that he and LeKevin bring out the best in each other, and the winner becomes Wilfork's backup, the position that Jonathan Sullivan should be occupying, if he could have simply understood just how precious was the opportunity given him. Pity.
Ken Smith appears to be in a deathmatch, for the 5th DE spot, with Kareem Brown and Santonio Thomas. Good luck, Kenny.
Good moves by the FO. Now, if they could sign Isaiah Kacyvenski and Liam Ezekial (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) for ILB, then I would begin to feel better about 2007, the recent shockingly putrid draft notwithstanding.
So both of them were out of football for a year, healthy?
Hank Poteat territory?
Why didn't the jets re-sign Moore?
The Penguin probably believes that CJ Mosley and Sione Pouha are better backup NTs. I hope he's wrong.
In honor of this roster move, next week I will visit Tony Case's alma mater, Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. (Was going anyway on a family camping trip.)
Meanwhile, who are these other guys we signed?
Have a great time, Zulu! Hope you can catch some wifi hotspots 'n stay in touch.
Monte Vista is a nifty little town just west of Alamosa that you might like.
The very high country off the beaten track around the seasonal town of Lake City
offers unique camping opportunities.
Thanks for the tips. Wow, you've been up in the HIGH country! (I looked up Lake City on the map.)
We're the proud new owners of a 1-BR homemade (by someone else) not-built-to-code "house" on 1.5 acres that we scooped up for 10K, so that's where we'll be headquartered. I haven't been there yet, but it's not wi-fi equipped, I dare say, since there isn't electricity or running water, either. We'll have fun romping on the highest sand dunes in North America, and swimming in the public hot mineral pool.
