New Touchdown Song

http://www.binarypro.com/clients/phpQ/fillsurvey.php?sid=9

Patriots.com has a poll to vote for a new touchdown song. I really don't like any of the choices. I'd rather keep "The Hey Song" because every time I hear it I think of the Miami game from '03 and the snow thrown in the air.

You can also submit your own song.

Everyone vote "Rock and Roll Part II/Hey Song"

1812 Overture - goes good with muskets, but not rock n' roll enough

Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love - has some "hey's," but too repetitve

Elevation - Not crowd-pumping enough, but good background music

Song 2 - probably the best choice, but is already played

Thunderstruck - already played

Yeah - No.

This doesn't thrill me. Why mess with a good thing?
Van Halen, AC/DC, then Usher - in that order.

editied to add, that's what I ended up doing, pats1 - list above is for the preset choices

Your vote won't go through unless you vote for one of the songs listed first. You can suggest your own. I hate that they are getting rid of Rock & Roll Part 2 particularly because it's for such a stupid reason.

Thank God the Bengals aren't musicians. They wouldn't be able to play their own music.

I just did and said that the song had nothing to do with the preverted actions of the composer.

Where do we see the results? I heard that the NFL was behind the change.

Thank you for your vote. Make sure to check out which song is the new touchdown song on September 10th at Gillette Stadium when the Patriots take on the Buffalo Bills. If you can't be at the game, the results will be posted on Patriots.com just after kickoff.

In other words, you need to buy tickets.

Re: New Touchdown Song

Can't say I really like any of them but would go Van Halen then Usher if I had to vote on those. Will have to do some research!

Re: New Touchdown Song

i think the fans should just sing RnR part 2 on their own then... just like that hey hey hey, goodbye, song fans all know and sing at the end of a win.

Re: New Touchdown Song

"Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation - the Pats used to play this a lot IIRC.

It's that catchy techno song - "whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh ..."

Re: New Touchdown Song

If we have to go with a song that already exists, I'd go with either U2's "Beautiful Day" or Bon Jovi's "Have a Nice Day" (BB and Bon Jovi are apparently very good friends, and the song's got that us-versus-the-world feel to it, too).

Re: New Touchdown Song

How about this one:

"Boom" by P.O.D.

"BOOM! Here comes the BOOM! Ha ha- how you like me now?!"

Re: New Touchdown Song

given those choices, the Van Halen tune is the best.
The whole "Hey, Hey, Hey" thing could evolve into something cool.

Re: New Touchdown Song

I don't like this at all.

Rock and Roll part 2 became part of the lore of our Dynasty in my eyes (ears?).

The song will ALWAYS make me think about our 3 of 4 run, regardless of if they take it away. And on top of that, whatever song they do use will just make me say to myself "This isn't the same as Rock and Roll part 2, this sucks." everytime we score.

The team has built a good history over the past five years, and that song was a big part of it for me (and I'm assuming, by the snow tosses, that it's the same for other fans). Why mess with that?

All the options suck except for the 1812 overture, and that's no bargain either. It should NOT be a rock and roll song..This is football, not some dumb concert where the entertainers cant sing or have no talent.

Leave it as it is now.

The team is named "Patriots" so if we really had to have a "touchdown" song, there is none more fitting than "Stars & Stripes Forever."

C'mon NEM...no place for rock and roll in football?

At the same time, you have a point about Stars & Stripes Forever. But maybe I'm biased by personal experience. At my hometown 4th of July celebration, the community band always plays marches and such for an hour leading up to the fireworks. By tradition, the final song is Stars & Stripes Forever...as they launch into the final chorus, you hear a giant boom and the sky lights up. It's really the perfect song for such occasions, whips you into a heartwarming fervor.

We talked about this exact topic on our show back in June. One of our listeners made a great point about banning Gary Glitter's Rock and Roll Part II. Not only is Glitter a convicted pedophile, but also receives royalties every time his song is played.

The NFL has asked all stadiums to refrain from playing his song.

Nonetheless, I agree that it's time for a change at Gillette. The music has been relatively unchanged for years.

What a perfect opportunity for them to come up with their own song... most ppl don't like change but if it has to happen, this would be the time.

Re: New Touchdown Song

OK screw the NFL.

I downloaded RnR PartII on my MP3 player so they can play any firggin song they want. I'll play my own.

I am also going to download "My Sharona" by the Knack. When our new RB scores I'll play that and substitute My Maroney for My Sharona.:rocker:

Isn't technology wonderful.

Re: New Touchdown Song

If they use Yeah by Usher, I'll want to shoot myself after every touchdown. I have to listen to it regularly when the Spurs score down here in San Antonio, and it gets ridiculously annoying. Thunderstruck is definitely the best choice on that list, but I honestly don't care if Gary Glitter had child porn, it doesn't impact the song at all - keep Rock and Roll Part 2.
