Why the **** do the network guys now say things like "Sunday, after the tackle football game..." or, "Right before Tackle Football Monday night," or whatever?

Are they trying not to confuse our World audience, sort of like this year's spanish-language NFL ads?

I mean, I KNOW it's tackle football... but having to say it sounds so wrong... it's like they expect us to have a professional flag football league any day now.

Anybody else a bit freaked by this?

I think one of the ESPN guys, Kenny Mayne I believe, started this thinking it was funny, if it has spread to other announcers that is just silly.

Most likely a regional dialect thing, like bag/sack, soda/pop, etc. Lots of larger western states, where football is akin to air and water, have many varieties. Small rural communities play 7-on-7, or 9-on-9, while the big towns play "tackle football". Mostly, all tackle, but some don't. It's like deciphering pee-wee, minors, majors, Babe Ruth for baseball. It's all little league but with many names. Do the majority of these guys have non-descript west-Texas or eastern Colorado accents?

Berman's incessant "New York Football Giants" is what kills me. NYG would be fine, thanks.
