Okay, I can see your point. As you noted the list is very subjective. Personally I would have given Belichick credit at least for the SB win over Buffalo in Tampa (Norwood wide right) when the Bills were heavily favored and their offense was considered unstoppable. A game plan in which you plan on letting the opposing running back run for 100 yards must have seemed crazy at the time to the players on the Giants' defense, but it worked.
Frankly, if I simply had to choose between Bill I + Bill II, and the question was "Who was most essential to that Giant team's 2 Super Bowl wins?", I would be VERY comfortable giving it to Bill II: I was setting all that up conservatively, you see, with a mind towards not yoinking the "credit" away from an Head Coach unless the impact of the OC, DC, or Line Coach was absolutely incontestable...
In other words, I was using the Criminal Court Standard: Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, when "stripping" the HC of his Super Bowl "credit"!!
Were I to apply the Civil Court Standard ~ where one must merely prove that something is
probable ~ then I must concur, sir, that the decision would clearly be in favor of Bill II!!
And as a point in fact, Councilor, I believe your Argument is emphatically persuasive, has, in fact, won the day, and has proven to the Court that the Civil Standards
should hold sway!!
Thus, I offer you this revised list, for the record:
Super Bowl Victories Attributable to Current Coaches
***
5 Bill Belichick
2 **** LeBeau
2 Alex Gibbs
1 Steve Spagnuolo
1 Shawn Payton
***
Kinda makes me glad he's on OUR side. :rocker:
