I don't blame him one bit.

According to Goody there is just as much risk as sitting on the couch.

The last 18 years have been full of traumatic injuries to both my head and my body. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. Has the damage to my brain already been done? Do I have CTE? I hope I don't, but over 90% of the brains of former NFL players that have been examined showed signs of the disease. I am terrified."

Eugene Monroe, free agent tackle, retires, saying 'I am terrified' of having CTE

Are we sure it isn't because he can't find a job at starter money?

He might be right. Every time I see his maddening mug on TV I want to bang my head against the wall.

No, not sure of anything, other than the fact that this issue is one that needs full recognition and support.

It could easily be both. He's articulating the cost of playing in the NFL, could reasonably be that he isn't willing to pay that price for anything less than starter money.

To me, the details don't matter. I think for more and more guys the money matters less than the very real possibility of drooling in a wheelchair draped in an afghan at a relatively early age.
