Looking ahead to next year's possible first rounders it looks as though there are quite a few prospects that would fit BB's desirables for outside backers and defensive ends...

    Mel Kiper's top ten prospects:
    2-Robert Quinn
    6'5" 260 lbs

    5-Adrian Clayborn
    6'3" 282 lbs

    7-Marcel Dareus
    6'3" 280 lbs

    Other possible first rounders:

    Greg Romeus
    6'6" 270 lbs

    Allen Bailey
    6'4" 288 lbs

    Cameron Heyward
    6'5" 288 lbs

    Marvin Austin
    6'3" 305 lbs

    Jared Crick
    6'6" 285 lbs

Get me a Stud WR with the Oakland pick.

Julio Jones, AJ Green, Michael Floyd.

Get a beast to replace Moss.

Of course, guys like Cody and Dunlap were high on the board at this time last year, so Heyward and Austin may be the guys who fly off the board in a similar fashion next year. When their motor is running, they are great players. but...

Oh I know, just a fun exercise to do, and we know BB definitely keeps future drafts in mind.

Especially if there is a rookie cap in place and Bill may not be as tempted to trade down.

I'd bet the house that doesn't happen. Those picks are reserved for the trenches, DE/LT.

I definitely agree with you. They will certainly be looking at guys who have the potential of a Seymour or Julius Peppers, depending on how badly the Raiders finish.

They had a chance to grab Bryant this year and I guess they passed because of his inability to run precise routes. But, no kid with those measurables comes into the NFL with the ability to run those routes (other than Larry Fitzgerald). Calvin Johnson was not noted as a crisp route runner. So, how are guys like Michael Floyd any different than Dez Bryant? (other than being late for practice).

With the possible exception of an offensive lineman, that pick will be on defense. Now, if there isn't that next HOF in the trenches or at LB, then BB may trade back and get a couple of picks, which then may include one for the offense.
The bottom line: if BB could land that dominant defensive player, regardless of who is on the board, then its a done deal. Doesn't matter if the next Moss, Rice, Montana are out there. BB is looking for the next LT.

I hope he doesn't trade out of those picks.

Warren, Seymour, Mayo. All three taken where the Raiders' pick is projected to possibly be. RBs and WRs of value and quality will be there in the 2nd round, they don't have to rush to get them early if there is a stud available for the defense.

The second pick though...unless he loves a certain players still on the board and trades up like he did to get Daniel Graham in 2002, depending on where it is that pick is likely gone for a 2nd rounder and later picks.

Who knows. Different scenario with cap implications, rookie scale, where Oakland ends up (not a top 10 pick). After this last draft, there is nobody I would rather have playing poker (drafting) then BB. Next year, he has even more leverage. As much as I want the commish to call the next Patriot picked, I'll go with the trade if BB thinks thats whats best, despite what the draft gurus say here.

Not going to happen if there is a rookie cap in place. All signs point to it.

don't assume we'll get a top 10 pick. oakland improved themselves a lot over the weekend. they won 5 games last year. I would imagine that jason campbell, rolando mcclain and bruce campbell will add at least another 2-3 games. We're looking at a mid-first round pick in the 10-15 range.

So, next year there's a new rookie scale.

    Say the Raiders go 7-9.

Why not trade both #1s for the 3rd or 4th pick in the draft? if it nets you a defensive stud?:D

I want Robert Quinn on this team badly. That guy is the next DeMarcus Ware.
