heres my poem

once upon a draft eve
the hooded one lay asleep
when suddenly he had a vision
of mavfan twenty-three, ninety

pick Chris houston you must
said the mavfan
for i am filled with lust

his coverage skills are phenomenal you see
and his measureables excite me
you will regret the day you pass him up
especially if you choose Paul Poluzny :p

haha so the end doesn't rhyme but oh welll

The first paragraph had no rhyme either- But a C- for effort :D

especially if you choose Paul P.

No changes are needed. It already rhymes.

me rhymes with knee, paul poluz(knee). I believe that's how its pronounced.
As for the quality of the actual poetry... well no comment.

Here's a short poem.

Patriots draft will be great.
Bills suck, Jets suck.
Don't count on a 1st round linebacker mate.
Fins suck, Colts suck.
This forum's football poetry is barely 3rd rate.

Thank you, I'll be here all day.

BB Late Round Pick Haiku

Prospects drift downward
like snowflakes reflected in
A silver football

Thanks for this taste of excellence. (Not sure it belongs here!) My favorite line of this thread is still Ironwasp's "I'll get my coat"!

heres one I wrote about Gostkowski:

Well his kickoffs weren't going as deep,
and during the offseason we felt his price tag was too steep,
So we let good old Adam Vinatieri go.

The naysayers claimed that the Pats were done,
but for Pats fans the draft weekend is always fun,
Our placekicker for next year, the fans did not know.

With a pick in the 4th round there came a hopeful light,
A man who played college ball in Memphis (That's right)
Selected was Stephen Gostkowski, just a regular joe?

In training camp there was a competition to see,
Between the rook and Mar-teen, the placekicker to be.
After all was said and done, Stephen was good to go.

Throughout the season, Rook had his ups and downs,
misses early, but brought the whole city of San Diego down,
All Pats fans should feel comfy with "The Ghost" kicking and Tom Brady ready to throw!

My turn...ahem...

"Jack and Jill went up the hill,

Each with a buck and a quarter.

Jill came down with two-fifty."

Or how about:

"Little Boy Blue,

He needed the money."

Thank you, thank you very much...I'll be here 'til Thursday...Try the veal.

On a more serious note...Space's homage to Gilligan's Island was awesome, and I think that Justin Blalock is the 2nd-best OLineman in the draft. If this were 2005, I would take him over Mankins and Khalif Barnes.

Somewhere out there Andrew Dice Clay (who is probably 55 years old now) is reading this and suing you for Copyright violation. :)

There was a moment last night when I thought this thread was about to prove the old saying that if you give typewriters to 1,000 monkeys one of them will eventually produce Hamlet.

I thought Spacecrime's poet was a decent effort and I liked the wee haiku thing, but it all seems to have gone off the boil a little since then. :(

Damn! For a second there I thought there was a poetry forum.

Blalock is an intriguing prospect. He started something like 48 games plus at Texas. Tons of big game experience. His run blocking is above average. He has the flat back explosion at the snap and he uses his hands fairly well.
He has decent feet, but isn't the best pass blocker or pulling guard available in this draft.
If BB is truly trying to upgrade the right side of the OL, then Blalock would certainly give Neal a big push for the starting job.

Get invited to many parties? Loosen your tie, undo the top button, and temporarily shelve the draft analysis. It's a Pats-related poetry slam -- didn't you get the memo? :) ;)

April 28th is fast approaching
Belichick & Pioli are drooling with anticipation
Standing by the phones patiently waiting
Trade up, trade down what will be done?

What I would give to be a fly on that wall
Deciding on the next NFL prospect
Looks like Goddell is about to make the call
And with 24th pick the Patriots select…

:p

The Draft Prospect Poem -- with perfect rhymes!

I'd really like linebacker David Harris,
Or defensive end Antonio Johnson;
But maybe instead linebacker Nate Harris,
Followed up by defensive end Charles Johnson.

We really don't need Clark Harris,
And we'll never get Calvin Johnson;
I don't think there's a spot for Ryan Harris,
or linebacker Rory Johnson.

There are big-school prospects like Brandon Jackson,
and small-schoolers like Chase Johnson;
Those on the rise like DeAndre Jackson,
And those on the wane like Michael Johnson.

I'm intrigued by Keith Jackson,
don't know a lot about Leroy Harris, son;
A funny first name has Xzavie Jackson,
Not so much Brendan Harrison.

Timmons rocks so much
Kicks arse all over green turf
Best for Cover 2

Draft Michael Griffin
Texas Longhorns nurture well
Shows foes no mercy

Michigan's Staley
His draft stock rises daily
Keeps pass rush at bay

Kiper cries "Pats lied"
Said they'd take Paul Posluzny
Poor Mel, cries river

Rolls of Tyler fat
Sure BB doesn't want that
ethic paramount

Quinn no Tom Brady
Arm not strong, pass won't hit moon
Lack of speed hinders

BPA is best
Draft value, not short term need
Pick brains, not pure speed

Ja Marcus Russell
Beat awful Katrina winds
Does Davis covet?

Mine looks better already

Don't quit your day jobs guys.
We're only GM wannabes.
Patrick Willis at 24 or on the rise?
Oh Santa if you exist, let him drop to us please.

:rocker:

three of the lines ended with "ee" sound but "up" didn't fit.

Paul P just seemed to fit better than paul poluzny.

But i applaud all the draft poetry here.

We should do this more often.

They kind of look like them too.

Peyton: I feel like sushi tonight, like sushi tonight.
Tom: You're buying sushi tonight, buying sushi tonight.
Izzo: Wasabiiiii!!!!
Giselle: You wish you could be as hot as me, as hot as me!
Reporter: You know this is absolutely fluff right?
Editor: Who cares? It's tight!!!

Re: Ode On An April Draft

Belioli, in need of some DBs,
Stated "we can get by with more freebies."
So they drafted a throng,
With no corner, free-, strong-,
Leaving fans with acute heebie-jeebies.

"Shaka's ability to combine both rhyme and meter with football meaning rockets him to the forefront of any serious analysis of patsfan poetry."
