ESPN keeps talking about the "Boston Globe" article on Randy Moss without mentioning Borges was the author. That's one thing but they're also just quoting Tom Walsh and Art Shell, without talking about the quotes from Kerry Collins and others. (these quotes go against the opinions of Shell and Tom Walsh). ESPN also seems to mostly skip over how bitter Tom Walsh and Shell likely are.

While the NFL network mostly talked about the qoutes of Shell and Tom Walsh they also mentioned what Kerry Collins said, and that Walsh and Shell just might be a little bitter.

Anyways, more of ESPN proving how pathetic their sports coverage can be.

And this comes as some sort of surprise that ESPN slants coverage to create controversy? Where do you think Fleger gets his ideas?

No, I just think it's somewhat pathetic that Borges came off as more fair and unbiased in his article than ESPN did when sampling his article. I mean come on!

Bayless said Moss would be a third or fourth receiver at best.

At profootballtalk there is an editors note after a story about the column where basically Florio thinks Tom Walsh and Shell have been out of the nfl for a reason, and Moss will bring it with the Pats.

Yup, and here's that Editors Note:

"[Editor's note: MDS is on his own on this one. There's no way that confirmed Pats hater Borges was going to say anything remotely positive about the acquisition of Moss, especially in Borges' first Sunday article after his two-month suspension for plagiarism? And who better to ask for some sound bites that a couple of his Raiders connections? Walsh was worse than pathetic as the team's offensive coordinator in 2006, and Shell was previously out of coaching for a reason. I think Moss can still bring it. If/when he wants to.]"

Keep it coming, all it is doing is providing more and more bulletin board material for Moss and this team... this is great motivational stuff.. can you envision after a really great game Moss's comments to Shell??

Have people even read Tom Walsh's comments? His comments didn't come off as a coach with an agenda at all. In fact, he throws a lot of compliments Moss' way too. Look at some of his quotes in the article:

The fact of the matter is a lot of what Walsh said in this article is exactly what Moss backers have been saying. He didn't put in an effort in Oakland because he wasn't happy with his situation. Neither Walsh or Shell said much of anything that hasn't been said about Moss before.

Mike Lombardi who is also quoted in this article saying only positive things also has a potential agenda because he has a long standing friendship with Belichick.

The premise of the article is based around the fact that you are believing Art Shell and Tom Walsh over Bill Belichick, which is a ridiculous.

That's not to say that everything BB touches turns to gold, but considering he only gave up a 4th round pick, the risk/reward element should have been mentioned (by the ESPN people, etc) and naturally wasn't.

I didn't take it as you need to believe Walsh and Shell over Belichick, I took it as picking up Moss is a risk that may or may not pay off handsomely for Belichick and Pioli. Based on all of Belichick's and Pioli's actions, I think they agree with it.

If Belichick and Pioli were convinced or at least very confident that Moss was still an elite WR, they would not have given him just a one year deal. At the very least, they would have given him a contract structured like Stallworth or Washington. The only other reason they wouldn't give him an extended deal is if Moss is looking to cash in next year and only wanted a one year deal to rehab his image and then go to the highest bidder next year.
