Re: Matt Walsh: This Guy Is a Scumbag....

If the Patriots ever had a copy, they'd have destroyed it by now. Walsh's copy would still be the only one in existence.

You mean if Walsh's copy is the only one, the Pats could say "hey, he did it on his own, not for us!" If that's what you're saying, I'm not sure how they could pull that off. Why would he be taping if it wasn't for the Pats?

Re: Matt Walsh: This Guy Is a Scumbag....

Walsh has some legal issues either way, whether he stole the original tape or the copy.
The ultimate point is that if Walsh has a tape, then the Patriots won't (either because they never had a copy, or because Walsh stole it, or because they had one and destroyed it). Thus, it will be a case of he said, she said (with Walsh saying the Patriots asked him to film the practice, and the Patriots saying Walsh acted on his own); and with Walsh possessing the lone tape, the Patriots' argument is far more plausible.

as ive been saying.

But, if this jergoff had a tape, he would have shown it by now - like last September when he was shopping his story.

Re: Matt Walsh: This Guy Is a Scumbag...

As for why he would tape if not for the Patriots, who knows? Maybe he was trying to impress his bosses. I don't know. Could be a thousand reasons.

Someone on Patriots Planet today posted a video of two U. of Miami students filming one of the Bears' Super Bowl practices from last year. Who knows why people do things?

The point is that unless Walsh can somehow plant the tape (if it exists) in Belichick's office, it makes no sense to assume that the Patriots asked him to shoot the practice if the tape ultimately rests in his possession.

Re: Matt Walsh: This Guy Is a Scumbag...

what will they dredge up next? Man this is getting old.

Re: Matt Walsh: This Guy Is a Scumbag....

In tomorrow's NY Times, Walsh is quoted as saying “I’ve never given a comment to anyone saying I had a tape or I’d give a tape to anyone.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/03/sports/football/03nfl.html

It's true, he didn't. Somehow the media morphed the story into "HE HAS A TAPE." Reading some of the stuff today, I was wondering if my reading comprehension skills were failing me.

It's mindblowing how completely irresponsible the "reporting" is.

I've pretty much been repeating myself over and over that all of his comments were couched in language that anyone with a little bit of street smarts could tell he wasn't really saying WHAT or IF he had anything!

ESPNEWS has been reporting that Matt Walsh confirmed he has tapes in his possession. This is contrary to every published report on the internet. What gives?

Re: Does Matt Walsh have tapes or not?

well if he has them I guess that confirms that BB never got them. :D

(seriously though, what does a tape prove anyway even if it exists in somebody's hands. At an event like a SB; folks are recording anything and everything; especially if they get the feeling it is the only time they will be there. and in 2001 most Pats folks had no legitimate right to expect they would be back 3 more times.)

Re: Does Matt Walsh have tapes or not?

I haven't seen anything suggesting he does. But even if he does, it means little - if the Patriots had him taping the opposition practice they wouldn't have given him the tape to take home with him.

Exactly! If Walsh has tapes, they are stolen. Now how would it look to use stolen tapes to prove ones story? All the Patriots would have to do is say the tapes are Walsh's & they never told him to do anything.

It's a win/win situation for the Pats.

It's far from a win-win for the Pats. If he produces tapes the fact they were stolen will mean nothing in the court of public opinion. Do you seriously think people would believe this Walsh guy videotaped whatever it was he video taped just for kicks? C'mon.

I really wish all this would go away because I frankly don't like the idea that my team was involved in anything that is underhanded in anyway. I'm sure there's a lot that goes on that I don't know about it both on the Pats and other teams but I'd just prefer to not know about it. Like the Mike Vrable ball-twisting story.

Re: Matt Walsh: This Guy Is a Scumbag...

From tomorrow's Globe:

Boston Globe, February 3, 2008
By Kaef Poreterr, Staff Reporter

Walsh was quietly escorted out of NE after soliciting sex from undercover prostitutes in a sting operation in Springfield, Massachussetts. At the time, rumours were circulating amongst the Boston media (never published) that this was part of a plea deal with the Springfield DA, struck after questionable material was found on his home computer. Sources close to Walsh stated that he took a coaching job in Europe to keep a low profile.

While in Europe, sources say he frequently visited Amsterdam in order to get an "outlet for habits he could not legally engage in while in the States." No details were given, but the source suggested that these habits involved hallucinogens, milk-fed donkeys, and boys from the Yugoslavian gymastics team.

When he finally returned to the states, Walsh slowly insinuated himself back into coaching football, but the Globe has obtained copies of six round-trip airplane tickets to Amsterdam, trips all taken in the last two years. We have also obtained surveillance video from the front stoops of multiple Amsterdam brothels, which show Walsh haggling with a male midget, three men wearing a Tom Brady jersey, and a piano.

Please check in at Boston.com for continuing developments in this late-breaking story.

Not to worry Fordy! Remember, there are many in the league who never wanted this story to die. To them, the SB is the perfect platform to re-load it and attempt to embaress the Pats.

personally, I'm not worried at all. Stuff like this has gone on forever in the NFL. That's why even Goodell stepped-up and said exactly that. Most teams do this stuff. Nordy, hatred is a powerful force...unfortunately, it's also very ugly. There are people in high places wanting & wishing for the Patriots dynasty to be taken down. Football has become America's sport and people from San Diego to New York want to see their teams succeed. But the Patriots seem to be at the top year after year. That is the root of this issue. Don't you believe for a minute your Patriots are any worse than any other team.

The problem with the game today is that each team, it's players and coaches are operating under the microscope of the hungry media hordes.

If you worry what people think of our team, you'll be sad Nordy. Don't let YOUR opinion depend on what others think. Use your own intellect and decide for yourself based upon the FACTS...not public opinion.

Until the Patriots run is over, public opinion is going to hate the Patriots. So you need to get used to it buddy.
