44 starts, yes, but he's played in 68 out of 80 possible regular-season games, which is just under 14 games per season.

I really like this idea for a thread. Good job. This **** is getting so bad now that it makes me sick. Journalism for sports and entertainment just keep going further and further south. Hell, half the people on this board are better and more responsible writers than these bloat bags that get paid to actually write. That's what makes Patsfans.com the best.

It's not just sports journalism. This is a phenomenon that exists across the entire spectrum today. It's what the journalism "schools" are churning out.

Reminds me of the old saw, "There are no bad students - only bad teachers".

I know it's bad these days but you have to feel for some of these beat writers. Not the mainstream ones like Prisco and Clayton, but with the Internet and blogging and the lack of magazine or newspaper subscriptions it is getting harder and harder to keep your reader's interests. There used to be a time when 2 articles a week was sufficient, now we have people like Reiss to compete with whom can give us captivating information long before anyone else. Plus with messageboards and websites it is so easy to simply give opinions that these writers don't have a lot to work with anymore. Just glad I am not in the industry, but if you asked the average reader would he rather have 7 sub-par articles or 1 quality article a week many if not most would say 7. Plus you have to compete with guys like King who do release 1 quality article a week. I know I for one use online articles as a way to pass the time while I'm at work and to continue to peak my interest, I rarely use them for education or to be impressed.

But I agree, the mainstream media is getting out of hand, it seems you are only rewarded if you have agendas and not quality.
