I read in another thread Graham has short arms but I will wait until the combine to address that belief. I still think this kid is Woodley 2.0 because both players had similar careers at Michigan and they have similar measureables. I even feel Graham has a better motor.

I really don't like Sapp, Kindle, and Hughes because of their fit in our scheme. I don't think they can set the edge and they aren't big enough for this defense! Pierre-Paul is a project but will still go top 20. Hardy has work ethic question marks and hes injury prone. Cunningham and Selvie are DE's who would be moving to LB. They havent shown any ability to drop into coverage and they cant even rush the passer in college.
They measure arms at the Senior Bowl, and Graham's measured 30 1/2''. Woodley has 32 7/8'' arms. I think that 2 3/8 inches is a huge difference.

I agree with everything you say about the rest of the OLB prospects.

here is my take on hughes. if he is drafted by any of the 3-4 teams. by mid season everyone on the bord will be saying BB should have drafted him he is a amazing pass rusher. but if the pats draft him by mid season everyone will be saying he is a bust.

BB's defense is all about stoping the run on first and 2th down and on 3rd down puting as many DB's as he can on the field to cover. not a whole lot of blizting. so if he can't set the edge. and i don't think he can he will never get on the field. and he would need to cover on 3rd down as will not just rush the QB. look at AD on more then half of the 3rd downs that AD was on the field he was covering a TE or a RB not just rushing the QB.

BB is not all about sacks that why only 2 player have ever got 10+ sacks in the 10 years as HC of the pats. if u wanna play LB for BB you have to do a little bit of everything.

Well you do know that LT had 7 seasons with double digit sacks right? BB was the Giants DC in those years, so he played in a BB defensive system. Also Mike Vrabel, who isn't exactly on LT's level also had a double digit sack season?

So I don't think it's just the system. You also need the personnel to make the system work. In any case, pass rushing isn't just about sacks, it's about pressuring the QB and making him throw before he wants to. If you can get a hand on the QB and make him throw early, you've successfully pressured even if the defense didn't register a sack on that play. In fact some of the best pass rush plays don't even result in a sack - see Tracy Porter's game sealing INT for TD in this year's superbowl! A play that wouldn't have been possible if Manning hadn't been forced to throw early.

Speaking of Coaching though, check out how stacked the Giants coaching staff was in 1990.

See some familiar names there? Bill Parcells assembled a heck of a powerhouse coaching team. It's no wonder they won 2 superbowl championships. My question is, does BB have the same confidence with his current coaching staff as he does the one he had when he won 3 rings for us? If not, why is nothing changing? Things that make you go... Hmmmm.

LT was very good vs the run he was not just a great pass rusher. i don't see Hughes, as a good run stoper.

as far as BB's system not being good will like you said it's won 5 super bowls we know it works but like any defensive. system it needs good players to work. and i think BB waited a lil to long to find replacements for willy mac. teddy b. vrabel. rosie colvin.

that has set this D back the last few years. even a guy like TBC who was 26 years old when the 49ers sign him he only got 3.5 million a year and he is obviously. i good fit in this system. but they signed AD who was 29 and gave him 7 million and he dose not fit this system.

IMO. Sergio Kindle, or Brandon Graham, would be better fits then Hughes, if they draft a OLB in the first round.

that is a pretty sick coaching stuff full of future HC's

Athletically Afailius fits fine, mentally is another issue.

Absolutely agree with this opinion. Belichick will take D/E (Odrick) or offensive lineman with the 1st round pick, assuming that he keeps the 22nd pick and doesn't move up. An offensive line-man is possible as well as he values the line postions for 1st round picks. That said, we have to take a rass rusher at some point(Burgess for 3rd and 5th didn't work) and I'm starting to think that Jerry Hughes is a good possibility. I suppose Kindle or Brandon Graham could fit the Bill (no pun intended) as they are 3 down OLB ers but I'm starting to think Hughes with one of our 2nd round picks.
