If Randy Moss gave half the effort that Wes Welker gives we'd have NFL's 2 best WRs

Just my opinion, but Moss just seems to be lacking in the effort department out there. Of course when compared to #83, anybody would look like they're lollygagging.

Maybe thats why we have Wes! Moss is our deep threat, we don't want him getting those hits welker gets. not that I enjoy seeing Welker gettin hit, i'd rather not have any of our receivers get hit, but its all part of the game. But more down the line, im sure Moss will show more effort to contribute just as Welker has this season. IMO

Moss goes long almost every play with two or three guys clubbing him. Welker runs 5-10 yard patterns.

By the way, with Brady throwing to him, Moss was a fairly decent receiver. Maybe worrying about the location of the passes might be a more likely area of improvement.

If Wilfork was our slot receiver, he'd really break some tackles.

It's amazing, people will complain about anything.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Randy Moss runs and moves so gracefully that it almost always looks like he's not giving 100% effort.

No offense to the OP, but can someone just post one of those "epic fail" pictures and then we close this thread. We don't need to criticize Moss in order to compliment Welker, or vice versa. Which is besides the point as Moss is the NFL's best receiver.

You really have no clue do you. Have you been watching him all season or do you just spew the same crap that has been spewed about in the past.

If you actually watched him you would see someone who is constantly trying his ass off to beat double and triple coverage. I have specifically seen him make some extraordinary plays in run blocking that I did not expect out of someone like him with his run blocking rep.

Just because Wes in one tough SOB doesn't mean he tries any more or less than Moss. What about the fact that Moss presence and constant double teams allows Wes' effort to pay off in bigger ways???

Moss was doubled teamed the entire game. From what I could see he brought 2 defenders with him everytime he went out for the ball. What I mean is he took 2 defenders out of the play, every play he went deep. Moss' hard running and deep threat potential played a big part in opening the field for Welker

Sorry for being objective, but the Pats SHOULD have lost that game yesterday. If it weren't for the effort of guys like Welker & Faulk making up for Randy's butterfingers/alligator arms the season would be toast right now!

Re: If Randy Moss gave half the effort that Wes Welker gives we'd have NFL's 2 best W

I guess we're watching two different players. Moss takes two defenders downfield with him every play and he runs his butt off to be sure they're away from the play. The fact that a very solid Matt Cassel can't get the ball to him the same way a HOF Tom Brady could is not irrelevant; but he hasn't made like TO and cried on the sideline or to the media after the game. He's also looking for someone to block every chance he gets.

So the guy is struggling a little bit with the constant doubling and the first conclusion you jump to is that it is lack of effort.

I can't argue that we would be toast this season with out Faulk and Welker but where would we be with out Moss? And because we would be toast without Moss doesn't mean others need to be more like him as your premise states about Faulk and Welker.

As the 1st reply stated, this wouldn't be the 1st time a lack of effort has been brought up in regards to Randy.

Cassel is getting the ball to Moss just fine. Lately when they're accurate I see drop passes & when there's coverage I see very little effort to go after the ball. At his size he should be able to get almost every jump ball.

I think Randy Moss is getting fraustrated by the constant double teams he's seeing play after play. Teams are definitely scheming to Stop Randy Moss...i think that's why he has had so many uncharacteristic Drops. I think when Moss is singled up at times is he is in disbelief which leads to lack on concentration and drop balls.

Wow. A HOF receiver is being judged by someone called bakes781.

    Ian - Another example.

For the record, if Randy did what Wes does he would be on the IR. They are two different types of receivers that complement each other - they are not interchangeable and play two different styles.

Randy has what? 31-33 touchdowns in two years with this team and you want to say he's "lollygagging". He has a certain style, you don't like it - fine - But to argue against his want and his will to win, with the No's he has put up, is pretty dumb.

Re: If Randy Moss gave half the effort that Wes Welker gives we'd have NFL's 2 best W

Moss plays when he wants to.

Last year he was playing for a ring, a contract and a TD record. An he got two out of the three.

This year he wasn't playing for a pay day. And after the KCs it was obvious to him he wasn't getting the ring nor going to break any new records, and he already had contract, his effort dropped.

He is still one of the best WR of all times, but he doesn't put the effort or care into each game that Mr. 7-11 does.
