I like it! Worked out well for us when Tom Jackson stated that the players hated BB :)

When will these idiots ever learn.

From the Article.. it sounds like a good NFL business decision to me.. did like the part of the article that talks about how Mangini will not name a starter, because he really does not have a starter on his team..

Just another pundit out there, trying to make a buck.. in one ear...

what about Minnesota? They cut Bobby Wade AFTER he restructured is contract before the season (in pre-season I thought) started so he could lower his cap. As soon as Lewis was available, they cut wade. Where is the loyalty there? Why doesn't the national media rant and rave over that???

    Whitlock is a tool.

Gee, if only we could have a more empathic, sentimental coach. I'm sure that'd be the recipe for success.

What the national putzes seemt o ignore is that the RAIDERS initiated the trade. Pats said no at first, then the Raiders came back around and sweetened the deal again. BB wasn't looking to do this. Opportunity came calling.

only the raiders wouldve given the pats a 1st rounder. else he wouldve gone to KC in which case BB wouldve been blamed for favoritism . just tired of this crap of loyalty and junk.

Whitlock also thinks that Jeff George is still an NFL-caliber QB, so I guess he's just a stupid fat **** who doesn't really know anything.

I guess Whitlock never heard of a coach named Bill Walsh, take a look at his track record.

WOW.. the Vikings love to cut their nose off to spite their face.. Nothing like ensuring that other players won't want to restructure since it won't guarantee them anything.

To my knowledge, the Pats have never cut a veteran in the same year that he restructured his deal.

How is BB supposed to be loyal? Or any coach for that matter?

Are loyal coaches the guys who pay bad players lots of money? I guess being a loyal coach makes you someone like Cam Cameron, who was trying to be everyones friend, and guess what? He sucked.

The good coaches are the ones who make tough choices and get it right more often than not, i mean the other coach i think is in BB's league is Fisher, he locked his former franchise Qb out of the building!

Exactly. I like Whitlock, he never pulls any punches, but that does not mean that I always agree with him. Here, this is a matter of a coach doing his job--trying to set the team up for long-term success. Whitlock doesn't have to lock the move--a lot of fans here don't. Making this trade doesn't make Bill Belichick scum.

Was Brian Billick disloyal by replacing Trent Dilfer with Elvis Grbac? No, he was trying to make the team better.

Were the Cowboys disloyal by releasing Emmitt Smith? No, they felt he was done.

You can come up with one hundred examples of this. Loyalty does not exist in the NFL. Seymour is a great player, and I would hope that after the sting from this trade starts to fade that he and Belichick will one day shake hands and remember all the good times they shared.

Whitlock probably tops the list of sports writers that I like the least (some might even say dislike).

He's just wrong a lot; this is a clear example of it. I thought the thread we had a few days ago about loyalty was very informative and thought-provoking. It sure helped me define what loyalty is in the context of an NFL coach. Based on the concepts of that discussion, Whitlock is just dead wrong about BB being disloyal.

Whitlock also sees the world in a way that seems to constantly differentiate whites from blacks. I prefer my sports commentators to be color-blind except when there are clear racial issues.

Whitlock doesn't like Belichick? Really?!? I thought he might be Belichick's illegitimate son when he wrote the love letter of an article on Belichick entitled: "Belichick is the devil and I wish he would just die".

Bill Belichick just might be the most disloyal and ruthless coach in the history of the National Football League.

God, I hope Whiltlock is right. The perfect coach.
