The Friday presser is always an excellent hint as to how the previous week's practices and preparations went. Alot of us tend to watch the Friday presser with a bit more of an eye to BB's mannerisms.

Yesterday, he comes in smiling and makes a little joke. He tries mightily to defeat the grin and finally wins that battle after about 10 seconds. However, tone of voice is far less monotone than usual.

    The two big 'tells"?

    1) Eye contact - - he was making normal, well-adjusted human being eye contact. That usually doesn't happen much in the pressers.

    2) He was in chatty football professor mode - - answers were long and full of info and strategy. The Reiss' and Bedards love it the 2-3 times per season that he does this - - they cherish those sessions like backstage passes to a Stones concert. Of course, it also came on a day where there were far fewer media members in the seats than usual (it being a Saturday, instead of a Friday).

Also, there were NO NOSE SNORTS - - you all know what I mean.

There is a direct correlation between the number of BB nose snorts to his anger/stress level.

Yesterday - - no nose snorts.

    They're in great position!

If I'm not mistaken, the patriots are 9-2 in December when BB has 3 or less nose snorts in a presser the Friday before a game in which the temperature is 35 degrees F or below. Let's hope for a chilly night tomorrow.

    9-1.

Officials ruled the snort during the 12/2/2011 presser actually was from media relations director Stacey James just to the side of the podium. The initial ruling on the podium was overturned.

Yeah.....unfortunately, that was my first thought as well. I remember actually feeling more optimistic about that game because of all the reports about how jolly he was. And maybe he WAS confident, I guess, but--well, you know.

Agree. I remember all the articles in 07 about how relaxed he / the pats were.

I think it wouldn't hurt BB if he was a little more forthcoming in interviews / pressers; but I don't read anything into the 'he was chatty therefore we're going to roll over our opponents' line of thinking

He is happy with how the PREPARATIONS have gone this week.

Victory is never a given. There are two teams on the field.

Please tell me where 'he was chatty therefore we're going to roll over our opponents' was ever written.

Or maybe he just got laid the night before?

On second thought ... I don't really need to know.

That's what i was going to post. His interviews before the SB were supposed to convince us that we finally had NYG figured out.

He doesn't have time for that until he's happy with his preparation. Priorities!

Man it must suck to always be winning. Play offs are a given. Nothing to worry about...

except how flatulent your head coach is before the game.

    Must be nice.

    Disable Jersey

Proper execution by the players on the field would have helped, starting with the 1st offensive series and ending with the last offensive and defensive series..

    Maybe...

Look, we take a lot from The Hoodie's mood. If he's cranky, practice hasn't gone well. If he's "chatty" it's usually because the game plan is installed and he's confident that he and his staff have done their jobs. Whether or not they win is irrelevant on Friday. He's got them ready, and it's up to them to perform.

One thing to consider perhaps is that Bill relishes these late season games, these big tests. In reality they don't mean much beyond seeding. The Pats are locked in as a division winner. He can go out there without the stresses of getting into the playoffs and just coach a big game late in the year. I would guess he loves a big game like this as much as the fans do.

I don't k ow. Isn't this what we were told before the last Super Bowl? And mostly I say this to watch as Schmessy slowly loses his sanity and gestures to earlier post so vigorously that he spontaneously combusts. ;)

    Inevitably, it will.

    WHEN is the question.

In the meantime, we are incredibly fortunate to be experiencing this. When I was a kid in the early 70's, the Patriots were looked at as a minor league team.

Ugh your face buddy lol Seriously though if preparations go that well we usually see the results on the field. Offense had 3 good drives all game and defense left much to be desired. Poorly timed penalties (basic infractions too like offsides - at least 2 of which were extremely costly, one bringing back a 3rd down stop and one a fumble recovery), drops, ST ourplayed pretty thoroughly, critical error by Brady early on. It wasn't a good performance and the Giants were hot but it's not like we're facing a juggernaut, they were 9-7 for a reason.

I wouldn't read much of anything from a BB pressor good or bad

William Belichick is a Football Genius.

He is not a Fortune Teller.

There are two teams on the field at all times.

To get to that SB, that "9-7 team" beat three straight playoff teams in their OWN buildings including the 13-3 Niners and a COMPLETE DESTRUCTION of the 15-1 DEFENDING CHAMPIONS.

You're right about the Giants not being a juggernaut. That was a FREAKING STEAMROLLER.

The Patriots were as well-prepared as they could be with the physically lame Mankins and Gronkowski. The Pats offense played that game 9 against 11.

    And they almost won.

They did well with what they had BECAUSE they had a great week of preparation. That's all a coach can demand. There was good reason for BB to be chipper at the end of that week. His team optimized its time.
