Inspired by the threat with a similar title, except instead of specific plays that have happened, lets talk about the plays themselves? Which ones do you find well-designed and effective? Which ones do you groan whenever you see the team on TV try and use?

I like: A good counter run by a talented cutback runner.

I ******* loathe: The Fullback Draw. Weis had such an affinity for running that in short yardage situations with Marc Edwards and it drove me batty. I hate that play so much.

I always thought teams should try the occasional Hail Mary during the course of the game, especially if it's, say, 3rd and 15 or longer. Hail Mary's rarely work because teams know how to defend against it, but if the defense isn't expecting it, I think it would be a tough play to defend.

Besides, we all know that when you need a yard or less, Brady's the man for the job.

My least favorite play is anything that involves Arrington trying to cover a guy down the sidelines.

My favorite is when Vereen shifts out to WR, and the defense is left utterly clueless as to what to do. It's fun watching linebackers try to cover 30 yards downfield.

Linebackers covering that far out of position is comical enough, but it's even more fun when it's a nose tackle that gets torched.

I absolutely loathe the draw when called on 3rd and ten/long, except of course when it works…;)

The Wildcat. I just don't understand taking out the QB just to try to fake out an opponent.

Interesting in theory, but the problem is most teams in a hail mary situation are rushing three, sometimes only two because they know everyone is going to the end zone. In the middle of a game, trying to get everyone deep enough for a hail mary on 3rd and 15 probably means your QB is getting buried before anyone gets far enough. Which means you'd need SOME routes that are cut off short, which defeats the whole purpose of the hail mary.

    For my choices:

Most Favorite - Playaction, linebacker bites, TE gets 20 easy yards between the LB and the S.

Least Favorite - Anything with more than two fakes. Defenses are too fast nowadays, taking 2-4 seconds to even begin the money part of a play is inviting disaster. Not to mention the more fakes you have, the more links in the chain can go wrong.

not sure if I'll ever hate any set of plays as much as I hated the Dolphins' Wildcat.

Honestly nothing makes me happier than an empty backfield with Brady in the shotgun, slinging strikes down the middle of the field.

Besides that, I absolutely love screen plays. You're always guaranteed some sort of blocking hilarity on those plays.

Oh, and also can't get of (successful) end arounds to 11

I hated that play we used to run with Laurence Maroney when we would have him run straight into a wall of people for a loss of a yard.
