Didn't he say that about the interest he garnered from the 49ers as he grew up a 49ers fan and he said it was surreal that they were interested in him and he got a chance to return to his childhood team but ultimately he believes himself to be a New Englander now as he spent the majority of his adulthood here and he couldn't turn down his mate and QB Tom Brady.

Interesting how un-Welker like Edelman is in these pieces. No smart ass comments or sense of entitlement. He genuinely appreciates, it seems, his opportunity to play with Brady in a McDaniels offense. He understands how close to being cut these guys are, and structured a deal that pays him a lot of money but is cap-friendly even in the last year of the deal.
