Dareus and Houston are two of the guys that I worry may not have the length needed for the Patriots' scheme.
I think most GM's will be afraid of a cancer relapse with Herzlich's. The Patriots have the liberty to select Herzlich and accept the risk.Herzlich? How come you think that he falls to the 4th round when he's rated as a 2?

1A Carimi
1B Jerrel Jernigan WR Troy
2A Wisniewski
2B Herzlich
3A Lee Ziemba OG Auburn
3B Jaquawn Jarrett S Temple
4 Leshoure
I think the Dline depth with Ty Warren and Brace coming back means we don't need to draft a D lineman.

I am inclined to agree.. Neither one is a true 6'3.. And BB actually likes his DEs to be in the 6-4 to 6'6 range and the same with his OLBs..
I could see the Pats looking at Herzlich or Ryan Kerrigan for OLB.
For the DE position, for seniors, you would be looking at Jenkins, Ellis, Jordan, or Ballard.. Juniors, you have the ones that have been named a few hundred times...
There are three guys who I like, in no particular order.
The Purdue OLB Ryan Kerrigan, the BC Academic All American OT Anthony Costanzo, and the Washington QB Jake Locker. The QB would have been the #1 pick had he come out as a Junior abut stayed, and played on an atrocious team as a Senior. BB prefers very smart QBs and Locker has the credentials. BB prefers intelligent OLs and ones who are able to both run block as well as pass block. Costanzo fits, he is even rumored to be a Rhodes Scholar candidate. Locker is very smart, and has the tools including baseball ability like Brady. Kerrigan is from an engineering school, that produces Belichick style OLBs which Kerrigan fits to a "T".
Long lists of picks don't mean anything, because the Team choices preclude all but the first couple picks from happening, is just useless.
Aw, what the heck. I'll toss one out:
1a. Kenny Tate, S
1b. Muhammed Wilkerson, DL
2a. Jeremy Beal, OLB
2b. Benjamin Ijalana, OL
3a. Danny Watkins, OL
3b. Stanley Halivi, RB/FB
4. Matt Szczur, WR/KR/RB
5. Greg Romeus, OLB
What is this propensity to throw every joe blow junior people can find at the Pats.. Seriously.. Most of the juniors haven't declared yet..
Not sure that I care for Romeus with the injuries and surgery he just had..
Also Szczur is under contract with the Cubs.. Though he accepted the Senior Bowl Invite, it remains to be seen what he's going to stick with..
I'm betting on Szczur to choose football, and be shafted with a lower selection than he's been told.I acknowledge that the juniors are conjecture, but choosing only seniors/declared players at this point would be total fiction too. So given that it's all fantasy, I figured I'd go with the more interesting fantasy. (I do think almost all of the players I listed will declare, with Szczur being the likeliest exception.)
Romeus is a HUGE question mark, but I'd roll the dice in the 5th and let him spend the year on IR. I think the Patriots roster is deep enough to make that kind of long-term gamble a good investment on day 3.
