Dareus and Houston are two of the guys that I worry may not have the length needed for the Patriots' scheme.

Wisnieski won't last until the 3rd round. Someone could reach for him late in the 1st..

Houston doesn't fit BB's protype for 3-4 OLB.. Also, I believe he's coming out of a 1 gap system. Not to mention that he's not made his decision as to whether or not he actually will declare. Also, how is he against the Run??

Leshoure?? Why do the Pats need to draft a RB so high???

Herzlich? How come you think that he falls to the 4th round when he's rated as a 2?

This has to be classified as the "All the other 31 GMs in the league are idiots" mock draft because that's the only way it's even remotely going to happen.

I am inclined to agree.. Neither one is a true 6'3.. And BB actually likes his DEs to be in the 6-4 to 6'6 range and the same with his OLBs..

I could see the Pats looking at Herzlich or Ryan Kerrigan for OLB.

For the DE position, for seniors, you would be looking at Jenkins, Ellis, Jordan, or Ballard.. Juniors, you have the ones that have been named a few hundred times...

I think most GM's will be afraid of a cancer relapse with Herzlich's. The Patriots have the liberty to select Herzlich and accept the risk.

    1A Carimi
    1B Jerrel Jernigan WR Troy
    2A Wisniewski
    2B Herzlich
    3A Lee Ziemba OG Auburn
    3B Jaquawn Jarrett S Temple
    4 Leshoure

I think the Dline depth with Ty Warren and Brace coming back means we don't need to draft a D lineman.

What makes you believe that the Pats are going to use such a high draft pick on a WR when they are so stacked at that position currently?

Also, there is no way Leshoure falls to the fourth round unless there is a major character flaw..

I don't see how Ziemba is a fit for the Pats when he's said to have poor lateral movement and technique.

I think that Jarrett will be gone in the early to mid 2nd.

LeShore would probably go higher than the 4th. I don't know about drafting herzlich so high...if other teams pass on him, he'd be in the bargain bin, the 2nd round is very high.

as someone posted on one of the other draft threads.

Most of the pats OG's played tackle in college so maybe we should be looking there when thinking who to draft for our OG need

Still trying to make my mind up with the Center possition

I was very disappointed with the performance of Ballard in the Bowl game. If you get a chance to watch he was sluggish especially against the hurry up offense and he was barely getting off the ball with no ability to hold the LOS.

I love Ryan Kerrigan and think he will be a great NFL player but I am anxious to see how he does in the conversion drills. He makes so many things happen in the backfield that if we get our hands on him he would be a great player for us at 17.

Aw, what the heck. I'll toss one out:

    1a. Kenny Tate, S
    1b. Muhammed Wilkerson, DL
    2a. Jeremy Beal, OLB
    2b. Benjamin Ijalana, OL
    3a. Danny Watkins, OL
    3b. Stanley Halivi, RB/FB
    4. Matt Szczur, WR/KR/RB
    5. Greg Romeus, OLB

There are three guys who I like, in no particular order.

The Purdue OLB Ryan Kerrigan, the BC Academic All American OT Anthony Costanzo, and the Washington QB Jake Locker. The QB would have been the #1 pick had he come out as a Junior abut stayed, and played on an atrocious team as a Senior. BB prefers very smart QBs and Locker has the credentials. BB prefers intelligent OLs and ones who are able to both run block as well as pass block. Costanzo fits, he is even rumored to be a Rhodes Scholar candidate. Locker is very smart, and has the tools including baseball ability like Brady. Kerrigan is from an engineering school, that produces Belichick style OLBs which Kerrigan fits to a "T".

Long lists of picks don't mean anything, because the Team choices preclude all but the first couple picks from happening, is just useless.

    Cousins,
I have been watching this talent. Face it, this is not a good draft year. Ole' DW Toys says that BB trades the hell out of this mess. Can't see anyone on the board taking any present roster spot.....Or trade some picks for a Fitzgerald. That makes more sense.
Pouncey looked decent. Tank Carder played well and has a motor. Watts looked O.K. but no one I saw is a game changer. Ingram makes sense but had a suck year...but then again Curtis Martin was hurt in his senior year as was Brandon Tate.

Some late rounder picks Quinton Couples a 6'6" DE from N.C. a Junior if he comes out and Lyle Leong, a WR from TCU who is tall but slender who gets open and very smart.

I still see him trading for 2012.

What is this propensity to throw every joe blow junior people can find at the Pats.. Seriously.. Most of the juniors haven't declared yet..

Not sure that I care for Romeus with the injuries and surgery he just had..

Also Szczur is under contract with the Cubs.. Though he accepted the Senior Bowl Invite, it remains to be seen what he's going to stick with..

I acknowledge that the juniors are conjecture, but choosing only seniors/declared players at this point would be total fiction too. So given that it's all fantasy, I figured I'd go with the more interesting fantasy. :) (I do think almost all of the players I listed will declare, with Szczur being the likeliest exception.)

Romeus is a HUGE question mark, but I'd roll the dice in the 5th and let him spend the year on IR. I think the Patriots roster is deep enough to make that kind of long-term gamble a good investment on day 3.

I'm betting on Szczur to choose football, and be shafted with a lower selection than he's been told.

Wilkerson and Kenny Tate have both apparently officially declared now, so . . . .

I like some of your thinking, however, don't see Dareus lasting to #17. I see too Maroney in LeShoure and dont' see Pats choosing one in first round. Don't know much about Houston.

Still too early to be definitive on who's coming out and how many junior QBs will go in first round but I'd like to see our draft with any combination of the following:

1-17 Robert Quinn OLB34 North Carolina or Cam Jordan DE34 California or Janoris Jenkins CB Florida
1-32 Cameron Heyward DE34 Ohio State or Aldon Smith OLB34 Missouri - (if don’t get Quinn)
2-33 Marcus Cannon T TCU or Aaron Williams CB Texas - (need OL help here or later but really like Williams)
2-64 DeAndre McDaniel FS Clemson or Mike Pouncey C Florida or Jason Pinkston T Pittsburgh
3-74 Muhammad Wilkerson DE34 Temple or Chase Minnefield CB Virginia
3-96 Jabaal Sheard OLB34 Pittsburgh or Orlando Franklin G Miami
4-128 John Moffitt OG Wisconsin or Sam Acho OLB Texas
    5-160 Quentin Davie OLB43 Northwestern
    6-186 Mario Fannin RBF Auburn

Rumors are Twitter are that he has officially picked baseball. Cubs' offer went from $400k to $1.5M. Darn. I like him.
