Hey, quick question for you Direct TV people...

We leave tomorrow for a 3 week trip to Europe.

We're trying to record the first NY/Pats on direct TV channel 708.

Unfortuantely, under "manual record", channel 708 does not exist yet. There appears to be no way for us to set up TiVo to record the game, because TiVo needs the channel to exist.

Does anyone know how we can get around this?

Uh, stay home? I has the same issue once. I take 3 weeks off every football season and go to Patriots games. I don't have TiVo though. I got around that with my VCR by leaving the TV on the NFL Ticket channel and did it that way. I only got the one game though.

Not sure if this will work or not, but you could try setting up a wish list with the keyword Patriots under the category sports and football and have everything automatically record. I checked and it is able to find Red Sox games on MLB extra innings up until 9/4. You should be able to see what it will record up to two weeks in advance. If you have any questions on how to set this up let me know.

That's the best work-around I can suggest - you'll also want to set the option to 'keep until you delete,' and clear the memory before you leave so you've got maximum capacity available - just in case.
