We've heard and read this many times about BB, but I think it bears repeating as something that sets him apart from other coaches in the league in terms of winning close games:

(From Reiss's blog after the Jets game)

Linebacker Rosevelt Colvin (on the Patriots winning close games)
"I feel confident in us because Bill [Belichick] tries to cover the majority of situations that come up in games. I think if it is presented beforehand, you have a better opportunity to repeat what you have done well or corrected in practice, so when you get to the game it is not necessarily a pressure situation for you."

This is why Belichick hates the "genius" label. His success is due to dilligence, hard work and preparation. Being called a genius makes it sound like he can show up in the office from 8-5 and call some magic play to win a game - and that totally takes away from what makes him successful.

I remember after the PITT playoff game in the '01 season, Troy Brown talked about the blocked FG/lateral for a TD play. He mentioned that they had practiced that situation enough that he knew Antwan Harris would be there.

That's when I really realized how much more prepared the Patriots are in situational football than other teams ...
