... with what is shaping up to be a historic team in 2008. This is a season that could make him a star, and make his market value in 2009 that much higher.

When a guy like Randy Moss takes a $6MM paycut to join the team, signing a franchise tender at the highest level really doesn't seem like much of a sacrifice.
 
Lets watch and see if he is too egotistical not to take the 7 million he gets under the tag.
 
Assante is about Assante, he still will want to get paid..
 
Randy Moss wants a SB, and Asante already has his. What he wants now is a huge payday. I doubt he cares that Moss took a paycut.
 
I bet he will. I assumed he would anyway, but his chances at having another monster year just went up. He's gotta know that.

Think about it, with the talent on O, lots' o teams will be chucking the rock big time by the 3rd quarter in most games. There be plenty of floaters uo there for him to snatch out of the sky late in games next year. Those are the easy balls to steal generally.

He'll get his payday, he'll just have to wait another year.
