And how much time did those 52 carries eat up? How critical were the final few carries after the penalty in OT? The Jets destroyed the middle of the Pats D Line and anyone who can't see that the run defense will likely be a problem from this point forward hasn't been watching the same game I've been watching.
The Jets did exactly what they were supposed to do on the ground and in the air. They played the better game and, bogus penalty or not, they won as a result.
I absolutely agree.
On the other hand, JMC00 was pointing out the context of the 177 yds on the ground, so I understood his point. They didn't give up a bad average per carry, but it really didn't matter either. It was the 40/20 time of possession that did them in, just as you said.
Giving up 30 points and 400+ yards to the Jets and Geno Smith is pathetic, and so is completing 1/12 on third down attempts when your all pro TE is back in the game as an additional weapon.
It was just a bad game all around. The problems on offense have occurred in 2 of the past 3 however, so that needs to get fixed asap. These next 2 aren't gimmes by any means. None of them are.
