At least none of them are picking the Jets to get to the Super Bowl. Looks like the Ravens will be the trendy pick from the AFC.

I expect everyone to pick the Jets right now, but how long before they blow up? 1-3 to start the season isn't that unlikely for them.

I actually think a 1-6 start is possible for them. BALT, NE, @MIA, @BUF, MINN, @DENVER, GB. If they come out of that stretch with 4 or more wins, they'd have to consider that a pretty good start.

Nothing makes me happier than having the mainstream media picking against us. It'd be the kiss of death to have some of those guys picking us.

I don't mind the questions surrounding our team; they're legit, and I have no clue what some of the answers will be. But I don't get the ridiculous amount of attention going to the Jets at all. They barely made the playoffs thanks to the Colts packing it in, need their young QB Sanchez to continue to develop, downgraded 2/3 of the best rushing offense, picked up a cornerback that can't tackle, and have a ton of contract issues popping up now.

Their first 5 games (and 6 of their first 7) are against playoff teams or division opponents, with the only exception being the Broncos, who could've/should've/didn't make the playoffs.

Miami concerns me more than the Jets.

    My AFCE prediction:

    Patriots 12-4
    Dolphins 8-8
    Jets 6-10
    Bills 4-12

I went there, Jets are going to have a 10 loss season :rocker:

I guess the national media doesn't have high hopes for the last few drafts from the Pats. Like I've said before, if Mayo and the 2009-10 draft class doesn't step up, their window will shut because they'll have to re-draft the same players to fill holes. Anyways, here is my favorite quote from Lindy's :
Okay then, please tell me what defense does he fit in?

I'll be shocked if they don't win the AFC East this season.

I'm actually serious with that prediction. I looked at all 4 teams' schedules. Of course, I accounted for a few upsets (Bills beating Jets, Lions beating Patriots on Thanksgiving). I just feel like this is "the year" where the Patriots don't lose to the teams that have given them trouble in past regular seasons (Chargers, Steelers, Colts).

As has been said many times before, everything will be fine with the Jets until they lose a game then all hell will break loose with finger pointing from all angles.

If they lose their first two games they could end up with a 5-11 season.

Looked on a sports book page today, and the Pats were 19-2 to win the super bowl (9.5-1). The shortest odds were 8-1 (Saints to repeat, I believe.) Nobody was a crazy prohibitive favorite like we've sometimes seen in the past.

The way I figure it, the inkstained wretches disagree with the compulsive gamblers, but that's about all this proves. I lost my magic 8-ball when I was 12.

I think the Jets win at least 9, but this idea they're super-bowl bound is just assuming momentum and upside, when the other possibility is we've seen the best year they'll have under the current regime. The truth will likely be somewhere in the middle (sorry to all the 6-10 Jets prognosticators.) Time will tell.

Here's a well reasoned contrarian opinion about the Jets prospects. It talks about how lucky the Jets were not to be eliminated from the playoffs by the Colts and goes on from there:

It's well worth reading the whole preview.
