2007 Patriots regular season record...your prediction?

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

I would really like to post a contrarian opinion, but I see a 12-4 record. 11-5 if 12-4 does not get them a first round bye.

I see losses to the Chargers, Cowboys, Dolphins, and Ravens. With the Chargers the only loss at home. The 5th loss coming to the giants if Cassel gets his first playing time of the season with the mighty Heath Evans as the running back.

Cincy is a potential loss, but that D can be exploited in the middle. Go up by more then a touchdown and then the Palmer will once again be under constant pass rush.

Eagles are tough, but do not have the weapons to really find the weaknesses in the Patriots Defense.

Colts, my head tells me that this likely a loss since it is in thier dome, but my heart tells me the Patriots will want this one more and will not be denied. Injuries could push this one the other way.

Bills and Jets, I do not see either really stepping up. Just an opinion, but there it is.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

12-4. First round bye.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

Cousin,
I agree with you. I think there will be a field day for the opposition passing offense in the middle of the field. Nothing was done about that since the Colts game, now with the loss of Harrison and Wilson being hurt now. Merriweather will take a while to ease in. He is a FS at best. Our biggest liability in the passing game is Sanders. What is BB thinking here? I have heard the BB lip service to him, but that is just whistling by the graveyard. BB has cut guys a day after such accolades. Practice stud does not necessarily translate to game day stud.
Why didn't they go for a strong safety in the draft? Who knows. Donavan Darius would be a good acquistion right now as a very intellegent starter, although long in the tooth, replacement. Would you want him or Sanders out there this week, cousins? Sanders is a very good ST guy, but he is slow and smaller than most CBs.
Clark had 144 against basically Sanders.
Is Torey James a possibility back there? Can Hawkins be brought back? Sanders losses us at least one game until Harrison returns. Can we do some rotation to help him? How can we hide him?
Mark this one down. The Jets will exploit the middle of the field and their TE core will do very well. The backs in the flat will do as well. I think 11-5 is a realistic number but the Pats will be a very good playoff team. The pass rush will save a few games, but up the middle in pass coverage Peyton, Pennington, Rivers and Carson will kill us. Mark this down as well. Pencil in Gates for 100+ in week 2 too.

P.S. I hope I am wrong at 11-5, but I see 3-3 in the first six games until we get some people back.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

Regarding the division record, Miami seems to always win a game against the Patriots, so that's one loss right there. As for the other division loss, you really think the Bills will split with the Patriots?

LOL!!!!!!!! That was a good one!!!!

Thanks. You made my morning with that one!

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

13-3, although with Harrison out I'm worried about the Chargers game.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

good point.Yes, I'm a troll and come to your board to act as stupid as I can without trying very hard.I'll probably get myself banned before the week is over.

You are being honest.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

12-4 is possible
11-5 is likely
10-6 if a few key injuries become a problem

The pats to win 13 or more wins or 9 or less wins are longshots at best

You are being honest.
Im trying NOT to get banned yet, this site has a dire need for some good trolls and I feel i can be of service. :D

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

heart says 12-4
mind says 11-5

The loss of Seymour and Harrison is a severe blow, given the early schedule.

This will give us an division win by at least two games.

12-4..............no worst then 11-5 but not better then 13-3.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

11--5

Why?

--We have a tough schedule. People focus on Indy and SD for obvious reasons, but we have the Bengals and Ravens on the road. We also get a fired-up Eagles team (presuming that Donovan stays healthy) at home. The Fins seem to have our number in Miami. The Bills are going to be a lot tougher this year. The Jets have shown they can stand with us, even if their talent level is way below our's. We get the Steelers at home, but they did win it all two years ago. Plus, you never know who's going to jump up and bite you "on any given Sunday" ala the Jets last year at home. So, out of that mess I can see us losing five games, tho I hope I'm wrong.

--There is more uncertainty than I would like for the first month or so due to the abscence of Harrison and Seymour and to TB's limited practice time with his full receiver corps.

Going 13-3 or 12-4. The loss of Rodney and Seymour might cost us a game, maybe two.
Had predicted 14-2 on the 'official thread' but that was before Rodney & Seymour were announced out.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

14-2

Adalius Thomas will save the secondary for the first 4 weeks that Harrison is out

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

14-2

Adalius Thomas will save the secondary for the first 4 weeks that Harrison is out

Adalius Thomas will be primarily our OLB not safety..He can't be in 2 vastly different positions at the same time of the snap of the ball,Hes quick and agile but hes also a run stopper and pass rushing specialist mor ethan anything else.

If you want the savior in Harrison's place during the 4 weeks its has to be either Sanders or Merriweather to hold down that fort.

Thomas will primarily be in charge stopping the run, helping the 'elder ILBs' and helping out in pressure on the QB,Not in running down a receiver 20 yards past the LOS,at least for most times.

Donovin Darius Profile

SS Donovin Darius was released by the Raiders Sept. 1 in a mild surprise. Darius, who has battled injuries the past few seasons, was signed with the hope that he could prove to be healthy and provide a bigger version of the nickel back defender called the "Wolverine," for run defense.

With the suspension to Rodney Harrison and the injury to Rashad Baker, it is possible that the Patriots may take a look at Darius. Although rumors persist that the team may be interested, no confirmation of that has been reported. New England appears to be set with SS James Sanders filling in for the suspended Harrison.

This would be a great add but the Pats would still have major coverage problems with Sanders, although I would expect a more experienced Darius is much less of a liability than the slow and smallish Sanders in coverage. Like I said in my last thread response, the center of the field will be a big problem for the Pats pass D with Sanders and a hurt Wilson. I am not comfortable with that tandem. Are you cousins concerned?
I say again 11-5 with a very strong second half but a 3-3 start because of DB personnel weaknesses. Green works for Seymour in a pinch, but Sanders for Rodney?.........If I am the Jets, my TE's are gonna be prepared for a big day. Sanders' last TE he covered got 144 yds (Clark). Wait until week two with Gates! Yikes! Help please SP.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

anyone want to update their prediction given these first two dominating performances?

I'm going with 14-2

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

I'm sticking by my original prediction which you all laughed at: 19-0

Here's the proof:
http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=58426&highlight=19-0

Don't feel bad, my dad thinks I'm delusional too. I honestly think they are going to do it. This whole spygate fiasco just makes me more certain. The Patriots are on a mission to once and for all remove all doubt as to who is the greatest team of all time. BB is pissed now and that means everyone else in the league is in big trouble.

You can all bow to me in February when I am proven right.

Re: 2007 Patriots regular season record... your prediction?

I'm feeling 19-0 too, baring major injuries. We DOMINATED the Chargers tonight, the only other really tough team is Indy. If we don't go 19-0, it will be 1 loss to Indy.

But Miami is weaker this year, we are MUCH stronger, I have no doubt we will walk all over them finally. I was expecting CIN to be a tough game, but the way they played today, I'm not convinced they have even an average defense. Dallas will be a pretty good game, but I can't see Romo beating us. Eagles don't look all that great right now, Baltimore looks very beatable, PIT looks decent. So yea, 19-0. With Brady, Moss, and a healthy D, we will not be stopped. (please no fluke losses.... please...)
