Who is your top 5 ranked AFC teams at 25% into the season?

    1 tops to 5 lowest

    I'll say

    1) Baltimore - Stifling Defense,Powerful rushing attack,Adequate receivers, destroyed thier only competition in the division.

    2) Houston - Finally has a secondary that can hold its own,Has a good QB,a perrenial 1,500 yard rusher and a future HOF WR

    3) New England - With a defense even in mid pack, this team would be far and away #1 but its all Tom Brady and Co. with the not so great defense just trying to keep opposing teams to score less points than Brady can put up,if the defense somehow improves to mid level then the Pats certainly will be at the top

    4) San Diego - Rivers seems to be off to a hot start this year and if SD gets stronger late in the season as they always do,they may be the best team in the Conference - WR Jackson looks unhuman at times with the catches he makes.

    5) New York Jets - A team that has looked horrid should only improve as the season progresses - I still see NY as a threat in the AFC East and a 10 win team

Runner ups - Buffalo and Tennessee - Buffalo may be losing the Cinderella slipper quickly and I don't see Hasselbeck keeping his good QB play for too long.

Agree with ur top 5.Even with a crappy Flacco, that defense will win u games.Houston doesnt have many weaknesses but they definetly need Andre Johnson on offense.

I don't see any true Super Bowl contenders besides the Ravens and the Patriots, but I would rank the Bills over the Jets. I predict the Jets WON'T make the playoffs.

This is tough for me, each team has such obvious flaws it's tough to say which teams are more complete than the others.

    1) Houston - Balanced offense and their defense is finally doing what they were suppose to do for the past few years.

    2) New England - You guys already know the positives and negatives

    3) Baltimore - Great defense, Ray Rice.......but where's the passing game?

    4) San Diego - No slow start this season, watch out for SD.

    5) Tennessee - I can't believe I'm putting the Titans in the top 5....they are basically just a filler though.

Jets would be #7, their offense is horrid and their defense is not up to the usual Ryan standard.

Don't forget quarterback who's completing under 50% of his passes. Lol, no thanks.

Who's the perennial 1,500 yard rusher? Foster? He's done it once in two years, and is not on pace to do it this year. Also, Johnson just got hurt yesterday, and it looks like he'll be out for a while. Hell of a player when he's healthy, but he isn't very often.

More INTs than TDs = a hot start?

How in the world can you leave 3-1 Buffalo off this list? You are what you are and right now the Bills win the AFC East e on tie breakers. They lost to Cincy on a walk-off field goal on the road after beating the New England Patriots for the first time in 8 years.

The Bills get a desperate Philadelphia Eagles team coming to town this week - should be a good test. I'm glad they get them before the Patriots do.

Going with the spirit of the thread title, I think you have to look at the losses when evaluating the teams:

    1) Texans - A shootout loss at NO, which is nothing to be ashamed of.
    2) Patriots - It took 4 picks to prevent another double digit victory.
    3) Ravens - Titans handled them with solid OL/DL play
    4) Titans - Jags loss is troubling but they are scappy, smart and efficient
    5) Chargers - Talented but they are the anti-Titans (self-destructive)

Tough to leave the Bills out but eventually the passes stop popping up into defenders arms. They have used up their easy games until weeks 15/16 so the road gets harder starting this week.

    F that

1- New England: We have the best QB/HC combo. We have TB this is a QB driven league and with him we can always win no matter how iffy our D is. We also have 3 running backs who can be used for specific situations.

2- Houston: They've improved on defense, but if they lose Andre Johnson it can be trouble for them.

3- Ravens: Their D is what is driving them right now along with Rice

4- Titans: I'm impressed by what they've done so far. Hasselbeck is playing well and this is with Chris Johnson struggling.

5- I have no clue I'd say the Steelers but their O Line is a mess

What does the Bills record need to be before they are taken seriously?

    A few quibbles.
    1) Hasnt Foster rushed for 1500 yards just once? That isn't perennial. I think you overrate Schaub too.
    2) I don't know how you can have the Jets ahead of the Raiders who beat them (and otherwise have played similarly) or the Steelers who are a better team.
    3) Im not sure if you are basing this on so far (Ravens) or expectations you have (jets)

Are we talking who's better right now, or who we expect will be better when it all shakes out? If the former...

    1. Houston
    2. New England
    3. Baltimore
    4. Buffalo
    5. San Diego

    If the latter...

    1. New England
    2. San Diego
    3. Houston
    4. Baltimore
    5. Tennessee/Pittsburgh

I don't trust my own analysis of the Steelers. I've been predicting that their D would age significantly almost overnight... for like three years now. I still dunno if it's actually happening or if I'm suffering from a major case of confirmation bias. Given the track record, though, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

    No Jersey Selected

    in no particular order

    Baltimore
    Pats
    San Diego
    Houston
    Buffalo

Baltimore will give NE the most problems. Their DL is crazy good and that is the one common trait of teams beating NE late in the year.

Idl Juny have you seen our O line this year? They've only allowed 1 sack to Brady so far, granted Ravens Dline is legit but our O line has improved from last year with the addition of Waters. Not only that we lost koppen and have a rookie starting and they've kept TB uptight and opened up holes for the running game

lets just hope A.H. gets healthy and starts lining up next to Big Vince for 50 snaps a game so they can stop Ray Rice when it matters in January.

    1. Baltimore - Perhaps the only team left in the AFC that still plays defense.
    2. New England - Best QB, best coach, decent defense.
    3. San Diego - Scary good passing attack. Have an easy schedule, don't be surprised if you look up in December and they have 2 or 3 losses.
    4. Houston - Well rounded team, like the change Wade has made on Defense.5. Pittsburgh - I still think this team is good, too much talent.
    5. NYJ - 2-0 with Mangold and 0-2 without Mangold. We'll see how they do with him back this week.
