If you were about to say anything halfway favorable, read this, and please offer your mea culpas.
I generally find Pats Pulpit to have reasonably measured takes, but this simply does not compute.
I’ve felt conflicted about the NFL for some time, and since the Ray Rice incident, I’ve truly hated Goodell and can’t stand most of the old boys’ club that runs the show. I still love the game, however, and don’t want to leave the best version of it behind entirely. Since Roger bent over the...
I really can't wait for tomorrow, so why not one last round of gluttony for punishment. I dedicate this thread to MGT, who I cannot believe has not started this thread already.
With all our justified angst about the OL, there's a fair amount of mystery as to what our defense will look like...
We all love to play amateur GM at this time of year, and it's great to see Miguel's dedication translate into a wider appreciation of the salary cap and the trade-offs that need to be made in building a team, but I think folks are getting a bit pre-occupied with addition and subtraction and are...
Reiss: Belichick on Longevity, Continuity
BB is an interesting man. I can't believe that journalists waste his time with the routine questions that they know he won't answer, when you can get this sort of quote out of him, if you ask the right question:
It would be interesting to ask...
I had thought there was a forum for this sort of question, but I looked around and couldn't find it. Sorry if I've misplaced this. I know Boston Channel 5 is carrying the game for folks without the NFL Network. Is there a similar arrangement in RI, or should I find myself a sports bar...
Ok, I know we can't know who was at fault on every play, because we don't have the defensive calls, but I still think a little analysis would prove worthwhile and interesting to those of us with a more modest understanding of what's going on.
Field Yates took a stab at this on the ESPN...
A picked-up bit from Reiss's chat today:
Somebody (Gary?) asked:
I see those names, and I have to say, "Yes." Let's not forget that we only saw that line out there for the very beginning of two games this pre-season, and there was a fair amount of havoc in the Philly and TB backfield...
I gotta think that they're going to test the defense at the first opportunity. You know teams will be focusing on the shallow stuff and middle of the field to limit Welker and Hernandez. I'm sure Brady wants to let everyone know that it's business as usual in New England.
...the Patriots would be IN!
and the Colts would not.
Clearly, they are the team of the decade. :D
...
Or more to the point, I can't believe there will be 3 games to watch before the Pats play again.
BOR has provided what I would call the conventional-wisdom 53-man squad, but every year, BB springs a suprise on us, whether it's a backup OL, a much-reviled LB or WR who gets is ST stud, or an unexpected trade for draft chips.
Let's hear your predictions for suprise cuts/additions, relative...
Having seen the exciting new players in action once now, I'll be looking closest at the interior line backups who haven't seen much time in year's past.
Brace, Deaderick, Love, Weston (he's big but I didn't notice his play last week)
Wendell, OBurger, Ghiaciuc, Larsen (and can Connolly...
We've heard everybody (and their sister-wife) opine about whether Suggs, Ngata, Wright committed penalties when rushing the QB last week. A good chunk of those posters (myself included) don't seem to care for the rules as they are. I'd be interested in getting folks opinions on what the rules...
I always hate waiting around for the networks to figure out the tiebreaker scenarios, so I sat down last night and worked out the AFC (at least I think I've got it all right). I figure someone out there might find this interesting, so while the kids are playing with the new toys... It's not...
