BOR has provided what I would call the conventional-wisdom 53-man squad, but every year, BB springs a suprise on us, whether it's a backup OL, a much-reviled LB or WR who gets is ST stud, or an unexpected trade for draft chips.

Offense: 24
QB: Brady, Hoyer (2)
RB: Maroney, Taylor, Faulk, Morris (4)
TE: Crumpler, Gronkowski, Hernandez (3)
WR: Moss, Welker, Edelman, Tate, Price, Aiken (6)
OT: Light, Vollmer, Kaczur, LeVoir (4)
OL: Connolly, Koppen, Neal, Wendell, Orhnberger (5)

Defense: 26
DL: Wilfork, Wright, Warren, Brace, Pryor, Lewis, Deadrick (7)
OLB: Banta-Cain, Burgess, Murrell, Cunningham, Ninkovich, Woods (6)
ILB: Mayo, Guyton, Spikes, McKenzie (4)
CB: Butler, McCourty, Wilhite, Wheatley, Arrington (5)
S: Meriweather, Chung, Sanders, McGowan (4)

Specialists 3
ST: Gostkowski, Mesko, Ingram

Let's hear your predictions for suprise cuts/additions, relative to BOR's list. (Kaczur getting IR'd for Ojinnaka in week 2 or some other placeholder for Ojinnaka does not count as a surprise, but a suprise week 2 cut or other random IR prediction would work.)

Yes, this is sort of a thread for the WAGs, but let's try to steer clear of the wishful thinking sign-and-trade stuff, because BB don't play that. My suprise roster move:

Larsen gets retained and BB decides not to spend $1.4M on Burgess.

We trade BJGE for a 2014 8th rounder. No way on Burgess-he's not going to go from starter to cut over the next week.

From the BOR's list, my suprise moves would be
1) cut Lewis
2) IR Deadrick
3) keep Kyle Love as backup NT (use Warren, Love, Wilfork as run heavy defense)
4) keep Sergio Brown

IR Pryor, keep Love ... against Cincy, start Love at NT and move Vince to LDE ... then the big surprise, week Two in Jersy: 4-3 heavy - Warren, Love, Wilfork, Wright; Guyton - Sam, Spikes - Mike, Mayo - Will.

I really like that idea shoot it to BB and Patricia.

Listening to BB's interview with Gil & Gino before the game on 98.5, a free-agent signing from another team's defense seems very likely. May not happen until Saturday. If that happens, I think Burgess may be toast (as he should be). I just don't see any passion out of Burgess, let alone performance.

Price would be my suprise cut - He has not impressed me at all. Twice last night he failed to get his body in position to make the catch and tap the sidelines - This is the NFL kid - You're not in college anymore. I'd keep Jenkins in his place.

Surprise addition would be Sergio Brown ... we are thin in the secondary. Buddy Farnham gave it the good ole college try but he was NOT GOOD playing Safety last night. Brown would ciontinue the streak that BB has kept an Undrafted Free Agent every year.

Marques Murrell getting cut after starting the 1st Pre-season game as the #1 OLB.

His body language is pathetic. :p

Markey Mark, gotta disagree on Price. Yes, I was down on the kid @ camp relatively speaking to the other WRs, but I feel that he's improved considerably since then in short weeks and the kind of misques are expected of many rookies. Jenkins impressed and can be 'hidden' on the PS.

Farnham experiment at FS is over. Makes memories of Slater's past flailings at saftey more positive. Ack!

Why cut Murrell then? You see a FA signing for OLB after contract week? I don't see anything viable.

I could still see a Wheatley or Murrell cut if their NFL intelligence/insider info/trade talk suggests that a better replacement at CB or OLB/ ST is about to crop up on the waiver wire.

No way on the tought of cutting Price. The dude for sure needs to work on getting the feet down. He ran good routes and made good catches, and the damn lousy footwork negated it all. That seems a more fixable problem, though, than if he couldn't run good routes or make tough catches.

Everyone knew Price was a likely project as opposed to an immediate impact kind of pick, and that he came from a program that would have him behind the other receivers.

He then lost 3 weeks of time because of the practice-eligibility rules.

He's a rookie WR who's been playing catch up from day one. BB understands that.

I was thinking about Price being cut, prior to last night's game. But he actually impressed me last night. Someone mentioned he looks like a young David Givens, and I have to agree, drops included (see Givens rookie season). I think he plays a little this year, works with the receivers coach over the off season, and after some seasoning, I think he can be a good one. But I would not be surprised if Jenkins makes it over Price, performance wise, he deserves to.

Fernando Bryant, 2008, says hello.

That was a unique case, IMO. Bill had no choice after Nando refused to tackle anybody in that last preseason game. Burgess hasn't looked great, but he's just getting back into playing shape and hasn't been the unmitigated disaster that Nando was.

I would be shocked. 3rd round pick Price would not clear waivers while Jenkins should make it to the PS where he can continue to develop his talents.

You could say this about half of the roster.

Did Kyle Love play himself onto the team? Did Sergio Brown? I only saw parts of the game. From the little that I saw they looked pretty good. Love could be the NT backup that we don't seem to have now. I don't think D. Lewis is guaranteed a spot on the 53

Count me in the group that is all for 2 exhibition/18 regular season games, there is nothing more useless than the fourth exhibition game from a fans point of view. Obviously it's helpful for players on the bubble.

Murrell can't cover my grandmother, can't hold the edge and has some pass rushing ability ( oh wait the same can be said of our starting LOLB - I digress). I would rather see Woods or Ninkovich in that position with Burgess coming in on 3rd down.

I like BOR's thought about a heavy 4-3 against the JESTS. I would have Vince head up on either of the players they play at LG (they both stink). Stop the run and force Sanchez to be a passer. He lacks confidence and it will be all over for the JESTS if they have to count on him to win a game for them.

Price ... you aksed for surprised cuts ... that would be a surprise.

Still confused. If so why START Murrell game one and then cut him to play the other inept OLBs already available on the roster for game one?

As to Sanchez, somehow we can't let him roll out right. Any scheme that forces him to throw left wins the game for us.
