In case people missed it, Hobbs was on ESPN First Take this morning.
He talked about 3 things in particular that I found interesting:
1) that time he verbally criticized Pats fans. He said basically that he wished he handled himself better, but also that some fans were way out of line (eg...
Re: Massarotti:Not So super
I disagree with those who think this article is okay.
The problem with it is that its not simply an article saying the Pats dont deserve to be in the playoffs and arent a SB team.
Rather the article is about calling Pats fans idiot homers if they disagree with this...
I agree with the original poster, brdmaverick. It helps a sport in the long run when good teams win and win repeatedly.
Thats how periods in sports history become memorable and defined, and players gain legendary status.
A 9-7 SB winner would make the season a historical throw away...
Kind of on the same idea:
While Pitt is a great team, they did benefit from the Ravens having beat the Titans (thus avoiding the Titans and getting the AFC championship at home). They will also get to play a Cardinals team in the Super Bowl that was mediocre during the regular season (although...
Not that I am per se "for" trading Brady,
But I am curious as to if those completely against the idea are either:
a) against it no matter what could be brought back in return (eg Brady is completely untradeable)
OR
b) dont feel like you could ever get enough compensation in return...
I'm copying and posting my regards from another thread, because I feel they may be more relevant here:
Like others, Goodell stresses the importance of winning the division as an explination for the leagues current playoff format.
What I dont understand is why can't the NFL be restructured...
Like others, Goodell stresses the importance of winning the division as an explination for the leagues current playoff format.
What I dont understand is why can't the NFL be restructured in a way that both rewards division winners but also ensures the best teams get in.
The current problem...
Re: Sen Comcast is on now
Wow - he just referenced a "statement from a former player at ESPN" who detailed how the tapes could be used in game.
This is absurd, and I hope some reporters have some balls to ask him some tough questions.
A perhaps interesting thought:
Walsh's lawyer, speaking on behalf of Walsh, has stated that he was not the source for the walk through information.
Does anyone think the Patriots organization would be willing to agree not to sue the Herald + perhaps give them greater access again if they...
Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.
My bad - clearly he graduated. But that makes it interesting then that he is always classified as a junior. I'm guessing they just dub him a junior because he had 1 year of eligibility left? And that he would have to have been a graduate student...
Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.
Not to nitpick or suggest NEInsider is a fraud, but I dont believe Mayo graduated college. I am almost certain he came out a year early.
Yes - Prosecutors, and Goodell, always have discretion in what they do. Hypothetically speaking, prosecutors need not charge anyone with a crime. Moroever, we have all seen people do atrocious things but plead out to something minor without jail time.
When dealing with rich celebrities...
True - -but involvement in a shooting is about as bad of conduct as you are going to get. You cant be series about a conduct policy and not apply it to this situation (if Harrison is involved in some way)
HOWEVER, I can imagine this story quickly dying because the injuries appear minor (even...
This will really test "tough guy" Goodell if it has any validity. Its easy to suspend guys like Pac Man Jones for the year before they are convicted of anything. Lets see what he does with a good old boy from the Colts, who, if nothing else, is connected to a shooting (whether he did it or not).
I see where you are coming from, but don't completely agree. While the Pats D "bent" but didnt break for much of the SB, I thought they allowed the Giants offense to control the ball and dictate the flow of the game.
Furthermore, I dont disregard the fact that the offense may have been...
Re: Seau coming in for a physical, wants 1 more year
I'd also add that before the season starts, injuries, unfortunately, will be a given. When the final cutdown days come about, logjams in the defensive backfield and at linebacker may have already resolved themselves.
Re: Seau coming in for a physical, wants 1 more year
This is is great all around.
For starters, he was a very productive player last year. And with the new additions, there is no reason the Patriots shouldnt be able to limit his snaps this year / keep him fresh and healthy.
Second, I...
I agree. Many of these guys may be able to play in the NFL. But the Pats may have to try and sneak some onto the practice squad - where they are likely to get snatched up by other teams.
However, if any of these guys show potential, especially Wilhite, the team may be able to trade some of...
The problem is that you can only carry so many guys on the game day roster that are there solely for their special teams play. If this kid is purely a special teams guy, he will have to be really good t it to make the team.
Re: John Clayton "New England one of the biggest losers on first draft day"
The only real way to evaluate a draft is to look back on it five years from now.
I doubt anyone here, in the NFL, or in a studio somewhere, would have ranked any of the top 5 picks outside of the top 10. But it is...
