When did you become a fan?

Seymour my man were have you been boot camp?

The SB really hurt. I've kind of been in a sports- coma since then (haven't watched ESPN or NFL Network). Plus this has been a relatively quiet offseason thus far. I'm starting to get out of my funk because we only have 12 days until the draft. :D

I've been a casual Pats fan ever since I knew what football was but didn't become a die hard until I was home on leave in 85 and got a chance to go to the last game of the year against the bengals. I remember being in the field for the superbowl that year and got a chance to drive the Major back to the barracks so he could watch the game. Haven't missed a game since if I could help it.

around 1975 1976 i was twelve just getting into playing football. i simply liked the pat the patriot emblum they became my favorite team, i dont mind the flying elvis.i love the winning spirit:rocker:

1995

That was the first season I started watching professional sports with a passion. They went 6-10, but I didn't care. Of course the next season they went to the Super Bowl, before losing to the Packers.

1960 - I hated the !@#$%^&*() Giants that my family watched all the time
and still do. It was difficult being a rabid fan during the many down years this
franchise has had and some of the escapades going on, but overall it's been a
pretty interesting ride to say the least. I've always been a 'good' fan of the
franchise, even in their darkest moments. If I had to pick a favorite player
out of all those years it would have to be Hannah. Players feared him he was
such a beast.

when I was born.

1976

I was 8 year old at the time.

I was a Redskins fan from ages 6 to 8, and had even been to Redskins games when my family lived in Northern Virginia. We moved to New England in late 1975, and I changed my allegiances pretty quickly. The Raiders regular season game was huge.

The funny thing is, my entire family also switched from the Skins, and to this day, my Dad's a Cowboys fan, older bro is a Jets fan, and younger bro born a decade later -- grew up during the Bills heyday -- is a Bills fan.

I became a Patriots fan in 1963. I got involved with a gritty Team and Coach who were much less talented then their opponents but managed to beat them, never the less.

I thought Mike Hovak did a great job coaching while it was obvious that he was told to collect string, and assorted aluminum foil from bubble gum wrappers & cigarette packs.

I thought that they would win in San Diego and become the AFL champs. Only to have my hopes dashed just like agasint the Bears ffiteen years later, by John Hadl, Paul Lowe, Bambi Alworth, Keith Lincoln, Ron Mix and Company...

I have been a dedicated FANatic ever since.

I became a fan in 1969. And you had to be a true fan in those early days with the Pats winning only a few games each year until 1976.

Grew up a fan, of course. I was too young to remember Plunkett playing, so mid-70s is the start for me. My interests in high school and college years turned away from sports, so the Super Bowl XX loss doesn't sting bad.

Gotta say though, nothing like that first SB win!! As soon as that ball went through, the phone rang with my brother (yeah, he can remember the Plunkett years) calling from the West Coast; what a great feeling! All I could think of Grogan, Cunningham, Nelson, Francis, Morgan... and say "You Finally Did IT!" High for a month... Counted our blessings ever since.

I became a fan in 1978 when My uncle was drafted by the Pats in the 8th round with pick 216. He played for them from 1978-1990.

Mosi's Mooses live on!

Started watching in 73 when they drafted Jim Plunkett.

1995, the year I moved to Mass from UK. I just wanted to be able to talk to my co-workers about something besides work, but I realized that it is great team support.

I started watching football the year after super bowl XX, so the '86 season. I was 7 and was very upset when Eason got safetied and we lost in the Divisional round against the Broncos. Been a fan ever since, through the good, the bad and the ugly.

Before most of you were born, probably. ;) 1960.

Born in '72 and started getting into them around '82 (strike year we made the playoffs). To be totally honest I didn't really become diehard until I attended my first game in '92 (last game of the year against Miami-we lost in OT) then they hired Parcells and drafted Drew. Haven't missed a game since.

Before that I was a Bruin-Celtic-Red Sox junkie (in that order). My father was a diehard Bruin fan and Terry O'Reilly was my favorite athlete. God he kicked some ass.

Was born in 87, became a fan sometime after they lost to the Packers in Superbowl XXXI after the 96 season.

Beginning of '96. Saw them lose twice and thought "Man, they suck." That year turned out OK.

I became a pats fan in 07. I couldn't resist the temptation of a 'nearly' perfect season last year. Since then, pats is my team. :)

this is the first i'll see Cassel play on TV. Let kick some ars.

The first Patriots players I can remember liking were Jim Nantz and Babe Parilli, so it must have been early to mid sixties.
