So I assume this has been pointed out, but I'm not reading the whole thread and the irony here is just killing me. The Pats lost on a missed extra point, essentially (you don't lose on one play, yeah yeah etc.). It's not a gimme play any more because Belichick has been agitating for years to make it more interesting and less automatic.

Well, guess that worked.

Bleh.
Don't give into easy narratives. Yes, the missed point had resounding effects through the rest of the game. But so did Brady's INT that became a quick DEN TD. So did the first DEN drive of the game where BB and Patricia overthought the coverage and paid for it. Bottom line, you tell me this morning Edelman would be a relative non-factor and Brady throws two INTs, I would bet against us.

You clearly don't know what CONTROL is. Amendola CLEARLY had control of the ball with his knee down on the ground. The CBS replay right before the commercial showed it plain as day. You're the idiot here. Not anyone else.
He didn't have control all the way to ground. I'm not sure why you are so caught up on that play it was a bad play by Amendola across the board and not something we should be keying in on as something that would have won the game. The other team challenged to attempt to make it a turnover you are going down a rabbit hole even mentioning that play. Find something else to blame.

This game was lost on the missed extra point. We don't chase the points down 8 with 6 to play, we kick it. Then those last 2 drives are for the win. So, the extra point was a huge moment or bad omen.

Denver's defense simply dominated the game - plain and simple. The problem with being one-dimensional finally showed up today.

I agree 100%. Its all the rage on talk radio to say that having a running game nowadays in the NFL is overrated. Sure could have used one today. Brady was getting his ass kicked and our offense looked like a bunch of ****ies all day because there was absolutely no threat in the run game.

I think having an offensive line would have been huge in this game. Cannon should have been cut after the game and given bus fare to get home. Watching Brady get pummeled was nausiating
I'm not sure why they extended Cannon he failed at LG, failed at LT, and was below average at RT when given an opportunity.

Stork regressed this season, Kline is a depth player at best, and Mason/Jackson are still projects.

They used the same offense against Seattle last year.

I know, I just feel like they left a couple rings on the table since '07. Again, this is the football version of a first world problem. Browns fans would still be talking about this year in 20 years if they did what we did. I'm talking from our perspective. Fans of a legendary franchise, dynasty, coach, QB, etc.

You can't win them all, but it gets tiring when you lose in the exact same manner, as well as underperform relative to your potential so many times.

To time any other player you'd use a stop watch, with cannon you use a sun dial. They need to cut cannon and Fleming and draft or sign some decent o linemen that aren't sub jag. I think mason and Jackson will be ok, but more has to be done to keep Brady from getting killed.

Can we stop with the tinfoil ******** (or whatever poor attempt at Marx you're trying here)? Their offense got trounced by a better defense, end of story. Embarrassing that this **** is in the public for some anti-Pat drone to pass around the internet at our expense. Stop.

I don't buy the "we got beat by a better D". I don't care if it was Tampa Bay, Philly, Jets D.....whoever. When a team can rush 4 and even 3 and harass your QB that quick that much? You're all but toast. All but done. Two words from the end of the story. Add in some inexplicable JM play calls (appalling lack of using White, or Bolden, in the flat and hooks) and a few stupid team mental mistakes, and it was too tall a mountain to climb.
Yes, Denver was the better team tonight. But their DL is not so good as to eat up the OL rushing a minimal number. IMHO thanks to our OL for this loss -- especially Marcus Cannon.

Side note: I was F'n pissed when we decided to go for it on fourth down. Our D was now throttling them except for that one long run mistake. We had 3 timeouts left and 6 minutes on the clock. We were likely to get 2 more possessions. Kick the damn FG!!! We do that now we either needed another TD (no 2 point) on one of our last 2 possessions or a FG on each possession. I squarely blame that on BB for not being patient. While many here at my party were good with going for it, I was beside myself.
I'm an absolute diehard BB fan, however, in the last month or so I'm scratching my head over some of his and his coaches decisions.

With that said, injuries were against us this year. It happens to a lot of teams. It is what it is. BB and TB and everyone else gave us great sports TV watching yet again -- falling one game short of another complete season of good watching and fandom. Now? We're on to the draft, offseason and Training Camp...:)

This! Right here, this!
So many blathering on about we needed this and that, boohoo big bad Denver D. Bull. This game falls on Cannon and a few of his comrades for what was just an astoundingly pathetic performance. You do not win in the NFL with OL play like that. You do not win when a D can drop 7 and 8 into coverage and still make a QB have to throw in 3 seconds or get killed. As a matter of fact, if that was our normal OL play through the season? We may even not have been in the playoffs.

Probably the least upset I've ever been after a loss. Guess I've been mentally preparing since the first loss in Denver.

O line just never got it together. Brady playing by himself basically for a month.

Winning the super bowl in such dramatic fashion definitely took the sting out of any negatives this year though. So I'm good. Pats are in a good position going forward. Just need to find an o line situation that works.

And I don't think the afc really stood much of a chance. The panthers are just unreal right now.

Not gonna make my own post but wanted to comment here. I was at the game. I have been to many games all around the league. The Donks fans were the absolute worst today that I have seen. I lived in Philly and have attended Pats games there. Nothing compared to this today. I wish them nothing but bad luck in the Super Bowl.

Granted easy to see it from up here, but Brady was staring down guys all night when the pressure got tough. Just ugly.

but it looks like he's looking at gronk

Ooh that sucks. Hang in there. 2 weeks and you'll get your last laugh...

The Broncos have one of the best defenses in recent memory. Elite at all levels
Sorry, but Denver's Safeties are not ELITE. They are above average. Their LBers outside of Miller are also above average. But their D-line is excellent.

Makes me appreciate that crazy 2014 even more.
Hate to say it, but that may go down as the last one for Brady/Belichick. So we have to be thankful for 2014. I don't know, kinda crushed right now so maybe not thinking right. I always say I rather lose the AFCCG instead of the SB, but this one really stings. This season kinda reminds me of 2002 (though we didn't make the playoffs), defending SB champs, season started out like gangbusters, crushing everyone, then the injuries hit.

I don't know, the way Carolina is playing, I think they would've crushed the Pats anyway. They will crush the Broncos, regardless of the Broncos defense.

I don't like to use injuries as an excuse, but we only had 2 of our starting Olinemen from last year's SB starting today, plus a lot of walking wounded. I really felt the first half of the season healthy Pats could've beaten anyone, including the Panthers. Most injured team in the league, it's a miracle they were 3 points away from going to back to back SBs. Bad coaching today didn't help either.

Man, I feel it was bad karma watching all of those Videos of Seattle fans being crushed on the Butler INT, maybe the football gods are paying me back.

We know what Cannon is by now. For all the panic about his slow feet, he's just fine as long as the interior OL does their job. When the interior OL becomes a liability and Brady can't step up, then of course Vollmer and Cannon are going to look far worse.

Honestly, I think Vollmer has spoiled people. He's one of the top 10 athletic tackles in the NFL, and off the top of my head probably the second most athletic right tackle. I know it's been a while, but have people already forgotten the Nick Kaczur and Ryan O'Callaghan years? Stick either of those guys next to this interior OL and we'd be saying the same thing. That's what typical right tackles look like against Von Miller when the QB can't step up. Really, that's what any tackle looks like against almost any pass rusher when the QB can't step up, because Vollmer had a lot of the same troubles against Ware too.

Lack of personnel at certain positions caught up with us. We are deficient at running back. Injuries will happen at RB every year and we do not have quality depth. There is a need to run the ball occasionally or else you turn into the Chargers. It would be nice to have a feature back. Blount was as close to it as we can get. Lewis was fine as 3rd down back but was asked to do everything and injuries happen. White is a step down from Lewis / Woodhead and Vereen, (who was really developing as a good back in our system, too bad the money did not work out).

Would like to explore some of these back - no idea on contract etc. I think any of these would be helpful.

Carey, Ka'Deem
Foster, Arian
Mason, Tre
Mathews, Ryan
Miller, Lamar
Robinson, Denard
Sims, Charles
Powell, Bilal 3rd ++
Vereen, Shane 3rd ++
Woodhead, Danny 3rd +
Barner, Kenjon 3rd down

Need better 2nd round picks – no DB’s on 2nd round TAVON ETC. Would love to see David Johnson in FedEx uni.

No speed at WR -

Defense has talent – Collins pass rushing terror, please let him get after the QB more often. He is a great athlete but I think his coverage is not good enough to leave him one on one.

Offensive line - Can't judge because of injuries. Guards playing Tackle / Centers playing all over.

I can't believe I'm saying this - except for the secondary the defensive personnel looks good.

Hightower and Collins are the real deal.

The throw was to Edelman, hard to tell from the picture since it was such a harried pass anyways.
