BBs decision to KO in OT lines right up with his decision to go into a shell with 2 timeouts and 2 minutes remaining in the 1st half. The Pats are never that conservative. The playcalling was curious as well at times.

KO was the right call in OT because Brady was getting hammered and the defense was actually playing better IMO. Stop the Jets and then let Brady get in FG range to win. There were 2 blown coverages on the Jets winning OT drive. Dungy just outlined the Marshall screw up by Butler on SNF. The Enuwa 48 yard play was another blown coverage.

Be careful, you're neighbors to the north aren't very hospitable with opposing fans.

Agreed. NYers. Scum of the earth. One of these year the Jets will change their name to "Jersey".

I can see that. Me though, I'd rather stay away from inter-division matchups in playoffs. Especially vs a team where most games are decides by 7 or less.
I mean I agree in regards to hypothetically it would feel worse to lose to the Jets than lose to the Steelers if we were to lose

Does everyone miss McCourty now?
I said that in the game thread. Hopefully those that have always railed on McCourty have a whole new appreciation for what he does for our secondary now. They sorely missed him today.

This is crazy...Pats lose on the road with half their first choice offense out vs a team facing a win at all costs scenario... pats play ****ing vanilla on offense & have ultra conservative game plan but lose in OT...people going off deep end need to be reeled in.... I'm typically what the fanboys on here call "chicken little" but wtf did people expect? They're not going to put up 30 on the road vs a good D with ur top 2 wr out, ur top 2 rb out & ur #1 te playing a conservative role...sheesh. GO PATS!

Even with the injuries pats were position to win the game. I have no idea what happened but BB deciding to kick off when the pats had some moumention is a colossal failure.

Of course we will never know the thinking because BB is just a prick when it comes answering questions about these sorts of things.

Sorry that English is so hard for you to understand when a person uses a descriptor..

That's the way were going to kick is the same thing as We're going to kick that way.
Your attempts as redefining the english language are futile..

If Slater had said "That's the way we're going to kick" then it just would have happened the other way -- NE would have been deemed to have picked an end and NYJ would have been given the choice to KO or receive.

Here's what happened in 1962. It is almost exactly what Slater did today:
In that 1962 AFL Championship Game, Haynes made what could have been a costly error at the start of overtime. Coach Stram, aware of the strong winds at Jeppesen Stadium, instructed Haynes, should the Texans win the coin toss, to choose the end of the field facing the stadium clock, which would give the Texans the wind at their backs.

The Texans won the coin toss. Haynes, assuming that when the Texans elected which goal to defend, the Oilers would elect to receive the kickoff (thereby gaining first possession of the ball), told the referee, "We'll kick to the clock." However, by starting with the words "We'll kick," Haynes had made the election for the Texans to kick off, allowing the Oilers, not the Texans, to choose which goal to defend. The Texans saved Haynes from embarrassment by not allowing the Oilers to score in that first overtime, then won the game on Tommy Brooker's field goal 2 minutes and 54 seconds into the second overtime (after the teams had switched ends).

Marshall to McDaniels: 'What were you guys thinking?'
Curran: A calculated risk gone wrong for Patriots

Think about it. Look at the evidence submitted in the In the first 54 minutes of the game.

Offensively, the Patriots offense managed two field goals. Six points. They’d amassed 216 yards of offense. They’d gone 1 for 8 on third down. The only reason they were within a touchdown when they got the ball back with 6:26 remaining in the game was because their defense had created a strip sack touchdown in the third. And when the Patriots finally did put a touchdown drive together and tied the game at 20 with 2:31 remaining, it was a drive pulled from the team’s collective posterior including two fourth-down conversions. With Brady throwing to Gronk, James White, Chris Harper, Brandon Bolden, Keshawn Martin and a banged-up Brandon LaFell, the odds were stacked against New England rolling downfield again. And we’re not even getting into the fact Brady was playing behind an offensive line featuring “In Case of Emergency Break Glass” left tackle Cameron Fleming.

Defensively, they were in a groove. After the strip-sack touchdown, they’d allowed a field goal and forced three consecutive punts. On the Jets’ previous three drives they’d managed one first down.

Which side of the ball was playing better for New England? It wasn’t close. Defense.

To bad that wasn't his whole sentence.. But yeah, keep pretending that it was..

Looks like your reading comprehension neuron is on the blink yet again. Do try to pay attention to the sub-conversations, son. That one had nothing to do with the specifics of what Slater said or didn't say. It was in response to someone saying that NE captains should be programmed to only say "we will receive", "we will defer", "we will defend X goal". I was pointing out that a fourth programmed response is needed, to cover the case when the team wants, for whatever reason, to guarantee it kicks off.

Lets get healthy, we're on to Miami, focus on clinching HFA next week.

I expect us to face the jests in the playoffs. The jests will beat the bills next week on the road. The bungles will once again fail miserably in the playoffs. I am pulling for them tomorrow.

Frustrating game...but given who was out ect...and the jets playing for their playoff life. I knew it wouldn't be easy.

And we still almost won that thing

While we were banged up, they were banged up in October.. Pryor getting injured opened up Gronk last time..

What a joke of a post. Pats in that game were still more banged up than the jests.

Lewis
Martin
Sheard
Cannon
Mason
Bolden

were all inactive.

I thought this was an interesting article. Is this all a cover for a Slater mistake? I will link the story below.
The Coin Flip

@jeffphowe
Coverage stats:
Ryan: 4/7 50 yds, TD
Butler: 1/4 6yds, TD, DPI
Johnson: 5/7 55 yds
Harmon: 2/2 53 yds TD
Richards: 2/4 31 yds, FF
Coleman: 2/5 9 yds
Collins: 2/3 7 yds, FF
Wilson: 1/1 48 yds
Ninkovich: 0/1 PBU

It will be interesting what BB decides at for #3 CB, a starting position vs. most teams. Coleman is giving up just 50% comp pct. on the season and was playing well before the injury.

Leonard Johnson was awful today. That was surprising.
