He meant to say anyone here that isn't hopped up on paint fumes after winning their annual "Super Bowl".... ;)

In all seriousness, the 2010 season should have taught us all that anything is possible, of course. But I would be very comfortable with a healthy Pats squad against the Jets in the divisional round. But, of course, at this point we don't know the status of Vollmer, and we don't know if any of the other guys will be reasonably close to 100% by then. Not sure if Edelman and Amendola at 60% would help, we need them (and Chung, McCourty, Hightower, Chandler, Kline, Ninkovich, Freeny) at higher levels than that.

Your team very nearly choked against us. We are decimated by injuries. I'll give the Jets credit if they can take us down in Foxboro with Edelman/Amendola/McCourty/Chung back in the line up...in Foxboro. Enjoy this one, it won't happen again. ;)

unless broncos lose tomorrow then only yhe bengals game will matter

I'm not sure what you're trying to say? If either one of DEN/CIN wins out and NE loses next week, the team who wins out gets the #1 seed.

DEN could have it at 12-4, since they hold the tiebreaker over us.

So when they did the same thing and won a couple years ago it was not the best thing for the team? Or is it the best thing for the team when it works? Or is it not the best thing for the team because its only working at 50%

Can we get some data please?

I'm sorry, but the whole "Well it worked once!" narrative is ridiculous. If you defer and you win, you look like a genius. If you defer and lose, you look like a total moron.

When your QB is Tom Brady, deferring in OT should NEVER be an option.

....esepcially when you add in the fact that your D is spent and you're missing your starting Safeties.

Oh let the Jets fans bloat on this one

after all this was their Superbowl

Your team still needs to 1) go on the road @BUF and defeat a team that Rex Ryan will likely have pumped up, and then 2) go on the road @CIN/@DEN and win there in the postseason, before you'd even get a chance at a rematch in Foxboro against a much healthier Pats team that you just needed OT to beat.

Not having guys such as Amendola, Edelman, Vollmer, McCourty, and Chung certainly make a big difference. That said, congrats on the win. Your team played better and deserved it today.

I am sorry. That is not the point. I asked you a question. I will ask again. In 2013 when it worked out well did you still throw your tamper tantrum?

I think the problem was the offense sucked so badly due to the injuries, so there was apprehension in thinking that we'd simply "put the ball in Brady's hands and win the game." After all, we didn't even pick up a 3rd down conversion until the fourth quarter.

It almost looked like the Pats were trying to help the Jets get into the playoffs or something.

Can't be ruled out! RT @rich_levine: No mystery here. Belichick got word that Steelers loss was official and initiated Operation Tank.

Dont think BB did this and jets totally deserved to win but I felt all along BB felt this as a throwaway type of game. Just play only those who can play and get out of there. Regarding the coin toss, the offense had scored 1 TD all day and needed 2 4th downs to get them.So it wasnt a bad idea. Giving up a TD in 4 plays was bad.

Agree all around.

I do get some satisfaction — and I like to think perhaps BB does as well — knowing the effect this game has on the Steelers, after all the whining they did in week 1.

Don't get me wrong guys, IF (HUGE IF) the Jets make the playoffs and then battle to a 3rd matchup vs NE; if healthy, the Pats are easy favorites.

I just wouldn't consider a Jet win crazy.

You seem to miss the point of your own question my friend. Reread it again, your answer is there and clearly stated.

Here, I'll copy and paste it again for you: "When your QB is Tom Brady, deferring in OT should NEVER be an option."

I think you can infer from that what my answer is. Just because they did it once in 2013 and it worked, doesn't change my opinion.

Was I happy they won? Uh, no crap, I'm a Pats fan. Does that change my feeling that deferring when your QB is Tom Brady is stupid? No, not at all.

I love how @TomPatriot dislikes it getting pointed out he's posted misinformation because it's a fact that the Patriots still have 53 men on the roster and 9 more on the practice squad..

I added something right as you were responding. No one should be taking anything away from the Jets, who should be proud for turning things around and playing well. They played better than NE today and deserved to win.

Since reading it seems to be a chore, I'll copy and paste it again for you: "When your QB is Tom Brady, deferring in OT should NEVER be an option."

Just face facts. Its a strategic move like any other strategic move. A good coach looks at the situation and makes a call. Sometimes it works (2013) sometimes it dosent (2015). Not sure why you keep bringing up Tom Brady as he was QB on both teams that did this.

You can tap dance all around this as much as you want. And you can be disappointed as well as am I. But you calling it something it inst dosent mean its whatever you are calling it.

I know we Pats fans are a spoiled bunch, but it really irks me every time Belichick makes a boneheaded decision and instead of saying: "Yeah, that's my fault. I take the blame on that" he goes ahead and says "We did whats best for the team".....

......How is taking the ball out the hands of the greatest QB "best for the team"? That makes zero sense. The point is to win the game, not give your tired defense more playing time.
He has never let the media or anyone disect his decisions by opening them to discussion. Him offering a mea culpa makes is feel better? is that why he should do it? By saying the standard line, he ends all further questions and probing and moves on. He may offer his apologies to the team internally .Thats all he cares for.Has worked for us forever now.

I added something right as you were responding. No one should be taking anything away from the Jets, who should be proud for turning things around and playing well. They played better than NE today and deserved to win.

Cheers! Thanks.

From the rule book:

He said "kick" first, making it his first and final choice, mistake or not. And as noted, there is precedent for mistakes being binding. In a title game, no less.

Sorry that English is so hard for you to understand when a person uses a descriptor..

That's the way were going to kick is the same thing as We're going to kick that way.
Your attempts as redefining the english language are futile..

So when they did the same thing and won a couple years ago it was not the best thing for the team? Or is it the best thing for the team when it works? Or is it not the best thing for the team because its only working at 50%

Can we get some data please?
Actually, I heard someone say on the NFL channel that since the new overtime rules when into effect--where the game continues unless the offense scores a touchdown or the defense scores on the offense's first possession--that the team receiving the ball first wins exactly 50% of the time. So whether you should elect to kick off in overtime depends on the relative strength of the offense and defense of the team you are kicking to and the relative strength of the offense and defense of your own team. In this case, both factors would seem to support the decision to kick off to the Jets here.

Just love how the jets are now pumping their chest after needing overtime to beat a decimated patriots team.

4) "we want to kick off".

If you really want to kick off and pick a goal hoping the other team will make you kick off, you might not get what you want -- especially if there is no wind. So "we want to kick off" needs to be an available response.
To bad that wasn't his whole sentence.. But yeah, keep pretending that it was..
