Steven Jackson!

I really doubt Jackson has much of anything left in his legs at this point. Not sure why bb is giving him a shot over bell.

Who is Bell? Do you mean Montee Ball?
As to why BB is giving SJax the nod over Ball, it's the resume..

Low risk with a potential high reward. If anything his experience can be huge for Brady finding openings when plays break down, pickin up blitzes. Again depends on what kind of shape he's in.

he has to be ready to play this year no reason to sign him now for next year

wonder how much he has left

Yep and more familiar with the offense (JMD -STL OC in 2011) and from what I understand in better shape.

Expecting a 2006 Corey Dillon type performance (50 ypg, around 4 ypc), albeit with added versatility as a pass catcher.

Edit: Dillon was also 32 that year and had at the time approximately 2,450 career carries, while Jackson has approximately 2,750.

I hope he doesn't run out of bounds to avoid a hit as I remember Dillon doing in 2006.

Hope he still have that ability which really sets Jackson apart and put pressure of the Defense. They would have to honor Brady's playaction fakes.

In a heartbeat.

He's had almost a whole year off to recuperate, so I think that difference might be mitigated a bit.

I may be way off here but in seeing some of the pics SJax looks lighter than he did last year. With that said maybe hes a bit quicker?

In 06 I thought Dillon was physically bigger than he was in 04.

A bit lighter, yeah (10 lbs or so, he always wore bigger shoulderpads than the norm). Is he quicker? I mean, who knows?

Probably not, but we're not looking for 2006 SJax (although it would be nice). I'd be happier than a pig in **** if we got Benny Ellis circa 2010.

Yes but, on the other hand, Jackson was never quite the runner that Dillon was.

I'm not so sure about that.

SJax - 6'3" 229 (listed, looks about 220 in that pic if I had to guess), 11 seasons, 2743 car. 11388 yds, 4.2 avg.

Dillon - 6'1" 225, 10 seasons, 2618 car, 11241 yds, 4.3 avg.

They're essentially the same player, Dillon a bit more brute force, Jackson with a bit more quicks - but both demonstrated both skills. The main difference between the two:

SJax - 460 rec, 3663 yds, 8.0 ypc
Dillon - 244 rec, 1913 yds 7.8 ypc

Jackson, historically, was at least as good a runner out of the backfield, and a far superior pass-catcher.

If you look at the two's final two seasons, they're remarkably similar.
