Marshall oh Marshall

Faulk came to New Orleans thinking he was going to leave town as part of the first NFL Dynasty of the 21st Century. That was a reasonable expectation since he and his teammates were 14 point favorites.

IMHO, he's never gotten over that loss...and how they lost...beaten up physically by a ferocious D and then having to sit on the sidelines and watch Brady march the Pats down the field from inside his own 20, no timeouts and 1:28 on the clock and then watch as another future HOFer kicked a 48 yard field goal "right down the middle."

I honestly think he was, in some way, traumatized by that and has chosen not to let go of it.

He should have been ready for the possibility of a loss vs the Pats. The Pats gave them a very good game during the season.

The article was written by Elliot Harrison.

Rodney passive-aggressive? How so? Not sure you can find anyone more of a direct frontal assault kinda guy out there.

I remember hearing a woman years ago on AOL refer to him as stomp, for the way his feet seemed to stomp the ground as he walked. And he sounds the same way as he walks.

I enjoy Faulk's general position toward the Patriots far too much. His tears are delicious.

Faulk feels he was "cheated" out of a super bowl. he actually believes the pats video taped the rams walk through practice. matt walsh later stated that he was present at the walk through setting up equipment the day before the super bowl but did not actually video tape. he says (whether you believe him or not) that he rememberd a few of the formations and relayed that to some of the coaches. i think it was in the new york times or somethng.

Even if the Walsh story is 100% accurate, what difference would that make? (Not directed at you. Just speaking in general.) Faulk had been the MVP of the league in 2000 and was the runner up in 2001. It would have been a shock if he didn't get a lot of attention from the defense. Add in the fact that the Patriots had focused on Warner in their regular season game and, since they came up short in that meeting, decided to make stopping Faulk their #1 priority.

Somehow, people, including Faulk, have deluded themselves into thinking it was unusual for a defense to be geared to stop one of the best offensive players in the league. He was surprised that there was no confusion when he lined up as a kick returner. What was supposed to happen? The Patriots wouldn't know they were supposed to tackle the ball carrier just because it was Faulk and that wasn't his normal job? Vinatieri would refuse to kick off because Faulk was back there? Just a ridiculous way of thinking.

While we are whining about NFLN/NFL.com:

Ranking the Super Bowls | NFL.com

Harrison for the most part gives the Patriots their due for being involved in so many great Super Bowls. And bless him for not putting SB 42 at the top.

Still, um:

Wha, huh? Has Marshall Faulk been buying this guy dinners or something?
What a crappy list, SB 13 no. 1 really. The game was not as close as the score indicates Steelers lead 35 to 17 before a couple of garbage type TD by the Cowboys in the final 2 minutes. Plus SB 3 at no. 4 and SB 14 at no. 7, Wow.

This is pretty clearly not about what he "should have been ready for."
