OT: Cam Newton tears down GB banner

Like I said originally, I can't stand the guy, so it's definitely going to be difficult for me to come around to his MVP status.

I haven't seen that many of his games, but I've seen enough to be able to disagree that he's a legitimate MVP candidate. No matter who he has as targets, a true MVP candidate should be able to complete more than 54% of his passes.

After looking more closely, I found that this could be considered Newton's worst passing season of his career. If he is being considered as an MVP candidate then there's something else behind it other than his QBing.

There's his running, and the fact that he's throwing to literally nobody.

Is it still private property when you the Taxpayers of Charlotte ponied up $144 million for renovations in the last couple years? Last week they couldn't stop 2 morons from rappelling from 3rd deck and raising a banner.

Yes, it is still private. No matter what you think about teams getting state $$$ it's still a private company that owns the stadium and the team.

This has absolutely nothing to do with free speech or the constitution.

I get that, but it still doesn't put him in MVP category IMHO.

I think we can just agree to disagree and move on our merry ways. :)

At soccer stadiums all over the world the visiting fans are separated from the home fans in their own designated section of the stadium with lines of police to keep them "safe" from the home fans.

Here in the states we have avoided that because we've always understood that it's just a game and it's all in fun. Rarely have we had the level of violence in stadiums that require that type of "protection" for fans.

Lately, however, it's been getting worse and it seems like we're heading in that direction. Mind you, it took several fatal encounters at soccer stadiums to get to this point. I always hated that about soccer games and took a certain pride that here we don't need that.

For Cam Newton to do something like ripping down an innocuous sign is going to, I fear, give certain fan bases around the country the "permission" to behave in a dangerously hostile fashion towards visiting fans.

Just an opinion.

Dumbass Panthers rule is dumbass

Brady cares about winning, so clearly he's a dirty, smug cheater. Cam wants to have fun and make money.......poster boy.

He's trying to act like he's competitive by bullying fans. What a joke. Just keep smiling, and play out the rest of your years in mediocrity.

Complainers gonna complain.....

i'm indifferent about Cam Newton, but as far as i know he doesn't beat women, children, or animals, and doesn't drink excessively or do drugs. if this is the biggest controversy he's involved in, he's doing all right.

No he's definitely in the discussion. The biggest reason being his receivers (barring Greg Olsen) are complete ass. Their team is third in drop percentage trailing only the Eagles and the Rams. Add in the fact that he's the best rushing QB in the league and he's the quarterback of the best team in the NFC, there's no doubt he's in the discussion.

Local Talk Radio isn't being kind to Cam. The word "Immature" keeps coming up for some reason

If one of our players ripped down a Broncos sign in Gillette I would need to hire a hazmat team to clean up the semen in my living room.

Media has officially been out of things to talk about week to week.

Cam Newton is not close to near the worse person in the NFL cause we know there are some real scum bags in this league.

Taking that into consideration I think he needs to be given a good smack upside the head at least a few times a year for some of the dumb and bad spirited things he does.

Cam Newton is like that guy who invites himself to your party, acts like you should be grateful he bothered to show up, proceeds to get drunk and ruin the mood and than complains to you how lame your party was and in a condescending tone insist he could throw a much better one.

That banner cost twice as much as a top end gaming laptop! And just before the release of Fallout 4 :(

10 best gaming laptops 2015: top gaming notebooks reviewed | TechRadar

Could even get one of those new fangled Surfacebooks with all the best specs...

EDIT: it's early. Sign was $500 not $5000.

Throw the challenge flag!!!

These southern cheeseheads are either the biggest suckers or the biggest liars. I recently bought an 8' x 2.5' banner created by Staples for $59.99 ....and mine was much more elaborate.
Nothing worse than embellishing indignation.

I love that Cam did this. People in this thread are hypocrites. If Brady tore down a Broncos, Colts, Steelers, Ravens, bills dolphins or jets banner we'd praise him.

This would be the tipping point for most of us to plunge headlong into homosexuality.

(Care was taken in crafting that sentence, btw)

Brady would never do this he'd be too focused on the game and other relevant things. Not bullcrap. If he did I'd be disappointed, and think it was weirdly out of character, wonder if a dbag like Cam Newton somehow took over his body.

Like I've said, this is obviously not a big deal. I appreciate people's arguments that this is what you get when you take a dump on someone's floor. But I would not want my quarterback being part of that particular distraction. It's not the Brady way. He has the opposite personality of a professional wrestler. Unlike Cam Newton.

Yeah, I agree. I'm no fan of Newton, God knows, and those folks probably didn't mean any harm, but it's just stupid and blatantly rude to Fly Your Flag on Enemy Turf. Guests are entitled to every Courtesy, as long as they are themselves courteous, but as much as I love the Patriots, I damned sure wouldn't go around insulting my Fellow Fans by unfurling Patriots Banners in their Stadiums, and I damned sure wouldn't tolerate them perpetrating that nonsense in our House, either: They're Marking Territory. Homey don't play that.

Any post with a Homey the clown reference rocks.
BTW agree completely with the post.

I don't love that he did it, but I'm not going to feign outrage either. I don't care and I don't understand why I'm supposed to care. If this is the story that we're going to spend Tuesday-Thursday sensationalizing, then we've got a pretty slow week on our hands.

Thank you for that Pubic Service Warning
I am always on the alert for such things that will suddenly tip me over.
