Mingo.

Why? Why the hell wouldn't you add a guy (for the right draft pick) that could add pass rushing and LB depth at a $300k cap hit for the rest of year and has a roster option that would make him a $2.6m cap hit next year if you decide to pick it up or gets you a comp pick and no cap hit if you decide not to pick it up

I'm sure Lombardi is trying like hell to convince Bill to get him.

Also I want to see a QB **** his pants at the sight of Jones, Sheard, Easley, Hightower, Collins and Mingo rushing like mad men on a 3rd and long.
I dunna know. We'd have to cut a safety....

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the Patriots don't make a trade. I don't get the same sense of panic from the team that I get from the fans.

I don't think you need to be in panic mode to make a trade you think will better the team.

Mingo's roster bonus is guaranteed. It goes to the new team if traded, but a team still has to pay it even if they cut him. Outside of a scenario where the Pats trade for him and then trade him away later, they'd be commiting to the full 1.5 seasons at $2.9 million right away. Still not awful, but it's not completely risk free in 2016.

Is Davis still good? He's had a terrible season.

I wish we could make a trade but the cap space really isn't there. What do you do if you have 500k cap space and need to sign someone?

Vernon Davis hasn't looked good at all this year. Or last year for that matter. Could be because that entire SF offense has been **** though. We'll see how he does in Denver.

Seems like a reasonable flier to take. What is his contract situation?

Looks like cap hit for 2015 is about $7 million, so figure about $3.5 million for the remainder.

49ers Salary Cap 2015

He will be a UFA after this season.

thats a great trade for denver for no cost mostly. could really fix their offense even further. Not too thrilled about this as a pats fan although davis has shown no interest here in SF , he might be better with manning.

Not worried. Manning is about as good as Kap now. Or will be as the season goes on.

He's been terrible since Colin Kaepernick took over at QB for the 49ers.

I don't think it's injury, and he does seem to still get open, but honestly, it's hard to know. He was awesome when Alex Smith was QB.

Does anyone really think Davis is an upgrade over Julius Thomas? Davis isn't going to magically fix Denver's offense, especially late in the season.

He's an upgrade over Owen Daniels, who they have now.

I don't think he "magically fixes" everything, but he helps them and doesn't hurt them. For what will probably end up being, essentially, a 7th round pick? He's fine.

I'm comparing him to Thomas on last year's team, which was better offensively and still got bounced early.

Is he an upgrade over Daniels at this point? Davis has been invisible for a few seasons. And I'm hearing he got shipped because he can't get along with Kaepernick, so, yes, he might hurt.

Either way, I see this pickup as "meh."

Hes probably equivalent to Thomas at this point. Which is still a big damn problem. We now have not only to account for 2 very good WRs but also a legitimate TE threat.

But people will go all "lol 'I CANT STAND IT' haha" because the Broncos can do no right and the Patriots can do no wrong.
