Peter King says Indy's run D is much improved...

2015 (so far): 3.8 ypc, 4 TD's in 5 games

2014 (excluding the Pats game): 4.13 ypc, 10 TD's in 15 games

So far the touchdown pace is worse and the ypc is slightly better. I'm not sure their run defense was ever that bad in general, we just tend to matchup really well against them in that area. It's a sweet spot for our coaching staff and personnel.

Yes, with the addition of two new rookies at DE and NT, and Langford at DE.

But by the same token, they have become susceptible to the inside short pass.

I expect a lot of one back power concepts with plenty of PA's. Look for us to open in shotgun with Lewis as offset HB (yes, Lewis over Blount because of versatility) . If they stack the box, Brady checks to the spread, if they opt to defend the pass, expect a draw or wham concept IZ's to take the NT out of play.

Statistically it is better. And they have a couple of good rookies so I could see things being different.

That said, their pass defense has gone to hell. Their passer rating against is average but they haven't played a decent QB (Taylor, Fitzpatrick, Mariota, Bortles, Mallott/Hoyer). Football Outsiders has their pass defense dropped from last year's 10th (1.1% below average) to this year's 25th (27.8% below average). Additionally they're on pace for 19 sacks after getting 41 last year.

One note, as we have faced several of the same QB, for comparison their 25th (27.8 below average) against the pass compares to our 7th (14.8% above average).

And they should be game planning for Gronk and Edelman, well, first, they can't cover them, second, even if they do some man coverage on them, Brady still has many weapons. I hope Dobson and Chandler make a name on this game.

It is better. I am not so sure the Patriots will come out and run down their throat, but I hope they do

Does King actually watch the games???

BUF and JAX ran all over them. There is no debate.

TN threw for 345 yards and HOU thew for 362 so why bother running?

Their defense is soft as Jell-O. Period.

Was there ever any doubt that it could only improve?

I mean theoretically it could get worse, but these are professional football players...right?

Not to mention, BB and his staff will review the film and unless they've been dogging it to show "fake" weaknesses, our staff will find the weaknesses and exploit them.

It is misleading. LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory were hampered by injuries (both were questionable about playing in the game) and Adrian Foster went out early in the Houston game with a concussion.

No, no they are not. Professional football players don't hang participation banners. Professional football players don't throw in the towel around week 7 in order to secure a top pick. Professional football players don't give up 219 ypg and 3.75 tds/game on the ground over 4 games, then cry about the psi of the footballs being run down their **** polishing throat.

Actually STATISTICALLY the run defense does look better than it did last year. But anyone looks better than they are when they Skim by (not plow through) the Texans, Jaguars and Titans.

They did limit Ivory to 60 yards but couldn't slow down Fitzpatrick in a loss to the Jets. To be fair they had 3 of their top 4 CB's not playing due to injury.

That's the difference between the Jets and the Pats. You can stack the box against the Jets and force Fitzy to beat you with his arm but obviously that won't work with Brady and Crew.

try the run but dont over do it..if it isn't working get blount out and spread them out.

I will believe they can slow down the Patriots run game when I see it. The Colts haven't shown any ability to compete against the Patriots in the Luck era and imo it is going to take a big performance from Luck to give them a chance to win this week.
