Here is the scary part....What if Hightower is hurt? He was missing for a while on Sunday. Otherwise, it really doesn't make much sense.

"Briggs is another guy, he's like Bostic but not as Bostic like. Cutler is not very Bosticky, if he was any less like Bostic he'd be in the HOF. I'd give Urlacher 9 out of 10 Bostic's."

Of course it makes sense. Quality depth signed for more than one season, playing for peanuts and essentially free. How does that not make sense?

What makes you think that? His college scouting reports say he's a run-stopping ILB.

Except he's been awful at stopping the run in the PROs.

So trading a late round pick for a depth linebacker signals that our best linebacker must be hurt?

Clearly the ink is drying on the Haden deal.
The Patriots trade Bradley Fletcher and Jerod Mayo for Joe Haden. Glibert and the rights to Josh Gordon.
The NFL Implodes.

Has he been any better at anything else or just scaled down so that his strongest suit is awful?

Bostic's struggles had less to do with his athletic ability and more to do with his inability to make the correct reads, fill his correct gaps and cover targets down the field.

To be clear, Bostic's speed would've meshed well with Fangio's system. His inability to shed blocks, would not have fit at all.

Bostic didn't play in any of the first three games of this season, as he dealt with an ankle injury.

@nfldraftscout: Jon Bostic about to be this year's Akeem Ayers? Talented, athletic LB lost in current scheme that Patriots turn into a stud.

It's one of the thinnest positions we have right now on the depth chart. If Brown or Butler goes down, then we'd essentially be without a replacement.

I hope McCourty doesn't ever have to play cornerback, but apparently that's the plan

Chiuba, your concerns are all well founded.
IMHO the best cover strategy moving forward is Have Faith, have Hope, but if neither of those work out match.com is free to try.

If you try and build your team based on "Incase X gets injured" we would have 53 QBs on our team.

Bostic and Freeny are good to have for 2016 when we are likely to lose Mayo. Bostic could be put on IR, or he could simply be an upgrade over Dakota Watson.

Yeah there's this expectation that every position is going to have starter quality back ups which just is not realistic.

This guy will win DPOY here.
