Wow, I hadn't seen this. Perhaps he should take it a little easy until he gets some much needed help. I'm hoping he gets it.

This is not funny stuff.

That being said, what he's been writing about any subject (let alone the bat$**** crazy stuff he's been writing about the Patriots) can be seen in a different light when one sees where it's coming from.

Around minute 15, it gets a bit scary.

Not likely someone severely depressed would want to do a radio show.

Guy definitely has some judgement issues. No doubt.

From the time I saw the interview he did with Tanguay (another case study) the week before the AFCCG, it was patently obvious that Doyel had severe issues.

He really needs to take time off and get his situation to a different level. There is no "cure" for most depression, but he sounded very unstrung in the linked radio interview above. It sounds like he needs to get to a different, safer place.

Anyone connected to the Colts knows something about depression..... That's a joke for you PC folks. Real depression is nothing to minimize.

Happy to give him ALL the space he needs.

I'm so depressed about other things I can't worry about Greg Doyel...

Eh, at the risk of sounding like a jerk, his mental health isn't my problem. If he doesn't want to take the heat, he shouldn't write a bunch of incendiary, accusatory nonsense.

I hope he gets the help that he so clearly needs, but in the mean time he's still accountable for his actions.

I agree......partially

Not only should he step back if he is not well, but his EMPLOYER (Indy Star) is being very irresponsible trotting out someone who is not emotionally stable to publicly write incendiary things about other people.

There is no way that his emotional situation (all one has to do is hear that cry for help in the interview) is not coloring his writing.

The guy clearly stated suicidal tendencies in that interview. Indy Star needs to give him time off from the pressure beat he is on until he can get in a better place. He is in the public realm and he is obviously not well. The Indy Star is being exceptionally cynical in trotting him out there.

I hope he gets as much help he needs for his personal well being....with that being said, **** this guy as a sports personality. He's a delusional ****head with a warped agenda spewing lie after lie to support his stance that the pats are cheaters and their accomplishments shouldn't be respected. So no we should not lay off him for what he says as a professional writer. We all have problems, doesn't give us an excuse to act like he does.

Actually, it may explain much of what he does. You DO understand that depression as an illness of the brain? Would you blame a Tourettes sufferer for cursing uncontrollably?

I say his EMPLOYER is the real guilty party here. He is ill. They are trotting him out to do public interviews and be in the spotlight and he clearly said in that interview that he has suicidal tendencies and is begging for help.

At this point, he is not the guilty party. The Indianapolis Star is.

Look I've dealt with depression in the past and I'm close with several people who continue to have much worse problems with it. I only listened to part of the audio...some near the beginning and the part at the end. I wish him the best even though some of the stuff he has written has made me perceive him as a major *******.

From one POV he was/is part of the pack of jerk offs defaming Tom Brady over next to nothing. **** him for that. Though I ought to consider that some of his issues may seriously influence his behavior.

But from another POV he is just a pretty irrelevant guy talking sports and has serious problems. As another (irrelevant fan) I don't have anything personal against him. So I hope he finds help.

If he needs space he needs to take it. It starts and stops with him and I wish him well with that but he gets no slack if he still lies and attacks.

That he is suffering does not give him free reign nor excuse him for the evil he has done. Did any of those A Holes care what havoc they wreaked on Brady, McNally and Jastremski's lives or ours for that matter with the lies they spewed? How has he hurt others? These NFL and media folks did not give a damn as long as it got them ratings.

His employer didn't make him apply for the job. Just because depression is an illness of the brain it does not give him free reign to say and do whatever he wants about other people/organizations.

Yeah...well as I said I feel bad for him, despite what he's written. So I'm not one of the people saying "**** him, deal with your problems."

No need to go upset with people who are at the very least are partly sympathizing with the guy. A lot of people would not care or continue insulting him.
