It seems that Belichick has been a bit less active than in many years.

We will have at least one cut when Blount is activated.

After the weekend, Belichick will look at the vets out there. After Game One, he won't have to guarantee their full year's salary. As always, the bottom of the roster gives Belichick a lot of flexibility. And now, he has a bit of salary cap breathing room.

THE VULNERABLE
Cadet or White
Thornton
Rufus Johnson
Martin
Coleman
Wilson
Harper

My guess is that Miami promoted Jonas Gray to their active roster bc BB was about to poach him off their PS.

Coleman can't be cut since he was signed off Seattle's PS. Cadet isn't likely to be vulnerable or else the team wouldn't have kept him around despite missing the entire preseason. Rufus and Harper appear to have a solid handle on a roster spot, so I would't put them on this list either. I'm looking at Thornton or Martin as being the most likely, or maybe one of the safeties.

My guess is that Thornton will be packing his bags, following in the immortal footsteps of Bruce Gaston and Kelcy Quarles.

The question is, who would we pick up?

I agree one of the safeties.

They should have enough bodies to get through the time EasyE is out but Thornton intrigues me.

I want Harper, Wilson, Johnson and Cadet on the team. The others, meh.

My money is on Wilson who was inactive the first game. Blount will be activated today so we'll know by 4pm.

He was inactive because he was hurt.

Actually, he can be cut. The Pats would just have to pay him his 3 weeks

We have lots of depth at TE and DT. Can see one of either Michael Williams or Khryi Thornton cut in favor of Blount's return. Those two seem a bit redundant being on the roster at the moment.

@FieldYates
Source: the Patriots have activated RB LeGarrette Blount to the 53-man roster & waived LB Eric Martin. Blount returns in Week 2.

I take it you didn't see when 3 of the 4 TDs came from the 4-Man TE Formation?

The 3 or 4 man TE formation becomes even more interesting with Blount in the backfield. Keep every one in and power run with Blount or flex Gronk, Chandler and Hooman out wide and pass to one of the TEs or still run with Blount. Nice options for short tardage plays.

Thanks for the info. For a team as cap strapped as NE, though, I think those are fundamentally the same. :)
