Goodell is Going Down

I apologize, Sup...this cretin gets the best of me. Every single day knowing this human swine is infesting the sport we all have loved all our lives makes me want to retch. We need a Richard The Lionheart type to take this moron on in the media. We need a Thomas Dewey to destroy Al Caponedell and deconstruct this abomination that has become the NFL offices.
All 32 of these owners have to see that their golden goose is NOT tied to the "leadership" of this smug, elitist goon. They have to come to realize they could do FAR FAR better and make even MORE filthy lucre than they do now by severing ties with this brainless, pompous, narcissistic, vainglorious megalomaniac.

Put it this way...flash forward a couple of decades....can anyone truthfully say that the tenure of Roger Goodell will be viewed as nothing more than an unmitigated PR disaster? The Homer Stokes of the early 21st century in the NFL...

I would dare say that the media is more responsible for this than the NFL. While certain parties within the owner's and management staffs of "certain" teams conspired, I feel like this whole thing spiraled out of their control because that's what the media does and the NFL is run by a bumbling fool with an ego the size of Everest.

I wouldn't. If the league had managed this properly, the media would've had nothing to latch on to. This story had legs only because the NFL made damn sure to give it legs.

No need to make that statement, my friend. That azzhat has gotten the best of ALL of us, from Sept. 2007 to the present moment.

I think they had him on the ropes, or at least started to get him on the ropes last year with the Ray Rice issue. Unfortunately, Kraft extended a helping hand thinking it was a smart move, and I'm afraid that nothing short of a major blowup will get him out now.

Maybe we see that with the Brady situation, as that's the obvious hope.

Yes, absolutely. The NFL could have easily put this to rest multiple times now, in many different ways. Hell, they still could if they chose to admit that the investigation showed inconclusive evidence.

I think we all believe that things would've been handled much differently under anyone not named Goodell.

Lol I forgot all about the Cardinals hacking thing. What probably should have been literally investigated as a federal crime was just brushed over in a day. And meanwhile we have ball pressure filling the headlines.

Here's the thing about the Cardinals hacking scandal. There IS a federal investigation.

The FBI has been on this since December, and has had the full cooperation of MLB. What baseball has NOT done, however, is make complete buffoons of themselves before they know the scoop. You never open your mouth until you know what the shot is.

They kept a federal investigation airtight for over 6 months, but the NFL has been leaking like the stuck pig that Goodell is going to be sooner than he realizes. He's going to get so very publicly embarrassed so very soon. The idiot, the company man, the f---ing child.

Not sure there is a Ricky Roma in our future to dress Goody down as we all hope to see.

Man it would be awesome though.

I'd love to see Goodell answer this question.

not me...I'd rather superglue his **** to his leg and melt his lips together with a blow torch so all he could do is a bad Neo imitation from the Matrix...

I'm not sure how you should take this, but my reaction here was, "Jesus, who would think of something li- oh, it's Joker. Carry on."

I think you're right, but I just think the Patriots are too commonly hated for it to get the groundswell over this particular scandal. It's only a matter of time before he does something really stupid that the rest of the country wouldn't love though.

I think we pretty much agree. I just view the media as more responsible for it's own actions knowing full well what would ensue. I don't give the idiot in charge of the NFL that much credit. Because if he actually knew how "F'd" this whole thing would get it might have gone down differently. He just doesn't have the sack to end it once and for all by doing the right thing.

I completely agree and was going to post something similar.

The Cardinals hacking another team is actual cheating. It can't be explained via natural phenomenon and the information couldn't be gathered by writing it down versus filming it. This goes beyond any sort of gamesmanship. It's a real crime.

Predictably, not many in the media hold any grudges against the Cardinals, so the main reactions have been "Let's wait and see" and "It's probably just one or two rogue employees acting alone." You had Chris Russo, who still believes Mortensen's report and refuses to read the Wells report or the Context rebuttal, urged for a calm, measured reaction to this.

This looks like it's just waiting to become a meme

If ever there was a guy who looked like he didn't know what the hell he was doing, this is him

There is NO WAY Tagliabue even lets this horse out of the barn. Goodell's NFL is completely out of control - owners and GMs are conspiring with NFL front office staff to "get" the Patriots for a deflation that never took place.

I can't see how Goodell could have botched this more - regardless of whether he's running a sting or whether his out of control NFL is running a really poorly run sting. He's completely destroyed the credibility and integrity of the NFL in my view. The owners themselves better wake up - they've got a lot riding on this because Goodell is an idiot

I don't claim to be one of those fans who followed the team since it's inception. I've followed the NFL closely since the late 80s. Can anyone think of this happening at any other time in league history?

I know Shula, Polian and others have manipulated the Competition Committee to help their teams, but at least those rules apply to everyone. I know other owners weren't happy with Al Davis's lawsuits over the years or when Jerry Jones cut revenue deals to benefit his team, not the league. I don't recall, though, an effort by other owner's to penalize their teams on the field. Along those lines, I don't remember hearing anything about rival owners coming up with ways to slow down the 49ers, Bills, Cowboys, Broncos, etc, when those teams were great for a sustained period.

If this is really happening, none of the owner's see the negative consequences? For example, if the Falcons get really good, Arthur Blank is sure that the Saints, Panthers, and Seahawks won't find some underhanded way to damage his team?

Greedy billionaires can't see past this quarters profits.
